I hope this is the correct place for this if not mods feel free to more it.
I wanted to fit a boost gauge to my car but I didn't fancy an A pillar holder. I saw that it was possible to fit the Newsouth (I bought it from Awsome GTI: http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=5593&xSec=142 ) gauge holder for the MKIV Golf to the Leon with a little work. So I gave it a go.
The finished article is not of as higher standard as some I've seen. But it works and I may at some point take it out and get it sprayed or flocked. Rather than waffle on I'll just put some photos up, you'll get the general idea.
I used a dremel, hacksaw blade, sand paper, industrial strength glue and black silicone sealer. I also bought a replacment steering column surround so I could do it at my leisure. The photos are not great as I took them on my iPhone sorry.

As you can see it's close but not quiet clos enough to fit. So out with the dremel!!!

I thought about cutting a hole in the surround and cutting and bonding the gauge hold in place the filling and spraying it. To be honest I couldn't be bothered to go that far. So I had a look at where it needed to be trimmed and cut it down bit by bit with the dremel.
First of all marked it off with black tape for a nice straight cut.

Still would'nt fit so had to trim a little more.

Then it fit.

Next up the glueing

Then used the silicon sealer to hide the glue!

Then fitted it.

I know the finish is a bit rough but I just wanted to get it fitted. At some point I'll take it off as I want to fit a new boost gauge. Then I'll finish it to a higher standard.

Then I did the plumbing.
As I was doing a N249 buy pass I cut into the N249 to DV pipe and put one of these T pieces in. http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=6778&xSec=142

I took the tube through an existing grommet into and past where the pollen filter lives. Then through another grommet in the bulk head.

Then it was time for my favourite job trim removal! Off with the glove box and out with the stereo to feed the tubing through to the steering column. I still haven't wired the gauge up as my brother was busy and elctrics are like witchcraft or sorcery to me.
So the did the N249 buy pass.

I'm pleased with it and it's in a good position to see while driving. When the wiring gets done I'll post up more photos.

On a side note I'm running a standard map and get 14psi then settling at 12psi. Is that about right?

Thanks Lee. I'm thinking of buying a double A pillar gauge holder as well for oil pressure and temp. Or I could just buy a liquid gauge. I think it's getting close to remap time...

Have you got a LG Lee? I'm worried it'll be to complicated for my simple brain and I would use it.

Cheers that is cheaper than I thought they were. That'll be an end of summer purchase then. Is there an alternative holder other than the air vent?

Not unless you go for the cube and that mounts to the windscreen, like a sat nav.

You can buy it in kit form and put it where you like.
Seen it by the ashtray and in the top right vent in the middle of the dash.

Thanks mate, there is a guide floating around for a mk4 golf using the same pod you've bought, he fibreglassed it, smoothed it, and it looks superb, I can't find it :(
