Ok, so does anyone know what the proper 0-60 time is for the 8V and 16V Ibiza Cupra Sport?

I have seen times for the 8V between 10.3 and 9.7 and around 8 seconds for the 16V. I have an 8V which definitely seems quicker than those quoted times, and recently drove a 16V with which I was quite dissapointed, and did not seem any quicker (although I have heard the 16V needs thrashing to extract its best).

I have also heard they get better with age. Is this true? My friend has a standard 1.8 8V Golf with 110K miles which was rolling road tested at 130BHP (112 is standard).

Steve,

8V ibizas actually seem to be better on low RPMs. 16Vs are lacking of low end torque (it is true for every multi valved engine). It is said that they are very "peaky", which means that you have to rev the engine to get the performance. 16Vs rev very easily and happily though, while 8Vs aren't! It was actually very strange until i did not get use to that (i had an old 8v ibiza before), but 16Vs have more power no doubt.

Thumbs up

i have a 1.8 gti 16v and have recorded a 0-60 of 8.3 seconds i was well happy with that as the only thing i've done mod wise is an induction kit and back box ,so hopefully when i get the rest of the engine tuned it should fly.

Nice one. I would have had my Induction Kit on today if the bloody bracket would have fitted.

I think John may have sent me an Ibiza version and not a Leon.
