Ibiza Cupra insurance?

Does anybody recommend a specific insurance company that they use? I'm 23 years old with a clean licence and over 5 years no claims. The best quote so far has been elephant.co.uk which was £617.40. I am currently insured with them and have been quite impressed so far. Tesco were about £100 more as was Direct Line. Why are insurance websites so frigging slow?!!

You might want to try Bell Direct :

http://www.belldirect.co.uk

They were cheapest for me:
98 8v Cupra - I'm 22, 2yrs NCB - £611

Results generated by online quote systems seem somewhat random and unreliable in my experience. It is definately still worth phoning up, they can often work it out cheaper or offer incentives that aren't available on websites

Good luck
Chris

Try Privilege. I've stuck with them since they gave me a quote that was about £200 less than everywhere else on my old Fiesta.

One of my friends has used them for his Impreza Turbo and got a reasonble deal too.

I was with priviledge until recently from way back when I had my Saxo VTR. Indeed they were always the cheapest I found. Last renewal date though I got a shock. They had change underwriters to be part of another ocmpany (direct line i think) and the quote subsequently was shite.

I am now with Norwhich Union Direct and they seem very good.

I phoned round a lot of companys....all the usuals elephant etc and these were the best for me. FYI I am 22 and drive a 2001 Arctic Silver 20vt cupra.

Ta,

Andy

I have been insured with some crap company's . You get what you pay for I think and I would not recommend HiPerformance , Adrian Flux ( Waited 4 month's to get proof of no-claims) , Performance direct etc .
These company's are usually the cheapest for a reason ... think about it , saving £100 off your policy is false ecconomy if you right it off and they only pay half of the market value.

I am paying over £1300 this year , I origaniall opened the policy for a Astra Gsi and it cost an extra £260 to change to the R , That is with 3 years no claims bonus , Im 23 ,Been banned from driving + still have points , and thats though Direct line Who have been sh_t hot so far......

Hmm, always a thorny one is insurance. Your quote depends on a whole heap of things, some of which are relevant but many of which have no bearing on anything. For example:
Marital status - am I more reckless because i'm single?
Homeowner? - I fail to see what difference the fact I live in rented accomodation makes.

It all comes down to how the statisticians have skewed the figures and what weightings are applied to which factors. And different insurance companies have different experience. For example, years ago my father had an Alfa 75, we're talking back in the days when Alfa Romeo were selling 2500 cars a year in the UK so it was a fairly rare car. One insurer wouldn't touch it and when questioned further it turned out that they'd only ever insured two in the past. Both had been involved in major incidents, so the car was seen as a huge risk. Yet if you asked him about Ford Escorts, they insured thousands of them, of which hundreds had been involved in incidents but as a percentage it was much smaller amount (and hence lower perceived risk).

There is no simple answer to the question "who is the best insurer?" - the question should be "who is the best insurer for my circumstances?". And by time you include all the factors, most of us are individuals, so finding someone with matching circumstances will be difficult.

Anyway, i'll be back to rant some more on this when my renewal date comes up in a month or so...

I was with Norwich Union when I first got the car, as I was in the middle of a year, so I just paid the extra for the new car until the year was up.. came to renewal time and jeeeeez.. they wanted £930.. !!! I don't think so..

I am 24 (25 on thursday), and I have full no claims.. so I had a look around and the cheapest I could get that provided the same level of cover and legal ect... was £620.. that was with Direct Line.. Tesco's and Elephant were pretty much the same (few quid more)... but Adrian Flux was sh*t (£750) and the AA wanted £1500.. !!! yeh right.. AS IF.. !!! lol

So.. around about £650 for a 23 year old with full ncb would be about right.. including no claims protection, which actually costs about £90.. so if ya don't want protection you can get a good saving.. but is it worth not having..?? I don't think so..

Insurance.........

Hi Jimmy Boy, my Cupra is insured through Adrian Flux, who in my experience are very good, but only if your vehicle is modified, because that is the bulk of there insurance. My vehicle is modified and all modified cars I have ever had have been insured through Flux.

e.g standard cupra 1.820vt, I am 31, full no claims, and clean licence, flux quoted me £735.00 per year, but when I purchased my modified car, guess what? £520.00 per year, no limited mileage, and only a £50.00 excess!

It pays to shop around as much as possible.
