Question

Hello to all.......I have been modifying cars for a while and I am about to part with my modded golf......I didnt know what to go for so I had to narrow it down to a couple of cars and I am down to the MG ZR and the Cupra......please help me out and give me some help on the Cupra, I took it out yesterday and I thought it was superb!

Many thanks.

The Seat would be a better long term bet than the MG I think. Build spec and reliability should be on Seats side, based on the VAG parts bin they're mostly built from.
Performance wise you are comparing normally aspirated with turbo, and the turbo is going to feel al ot quicker with the low down torque and abundance of it
A chip away from nearly 200bhp which can't be bad.
pop on some good brakes and suspension and you would have a well sorted motor for bargain money.
My 2 penneth on this.

(mines a 210 Ibiza Cupra in addition to my well modded 16v Jetta)

I see that you are looking all throught the postings ha ha!

Had a look at your site not bad at all, might have to pay you a visit then.

I think as I felt the turbo kick in yesterday that might have made my mind up to be honest....my first ever drive of a turbo'd car!

I think that it is a good bargain and its what you can do with it afterwards as well!

What was modded about your Golf?
R U in Club Gti? There's a Seat Drivers Club too via this forum and hosting website.

I am hoping to get this one featured as well

Hmmm I seem to be having problems posting at the mo!

Too many mods to list on the Golf...It was in Fast Car last year, and I am a member of Club Gti and was one of the founder members of the Reanault Sports Club as well, so when I get the Cupra I will probably be up for joining.

Still cannot post on here!

Golf had 10k worth of mods too long to list and was in Fast Car last year and again this year.

I am in Club Gti and was one of the founders of the Renault Sports Club in 1999, I might be interested in joining depends on other commitments, One of the club guys is bringing his car up for me to have a look at tommorow so i will speak to him about it.

I have just faced the same dilemma (but with a 206 GTi thrown in for good measure). In the end I got a silver Cupra 20VT.

WHY?

1. The Seat shares lots with it's VW mates, can't be a bad thing, MG don't share VW bits...speaks for itself really.
2. Seat have a good rallying history, makes the Cupra kind of a cool car imho.
3. It felt better than the MG to drive as far I was concerned. The MG was nice but a bit, erm, lacking I thought.
4. It's just that bit different, there are not many of them around.
5. Very tuneable.
6. Makes some bigger, more expensive stuff blush

And now I've had the thing for a while it's only been reinforced. Before the Cupra I had an imported Impreza WRX with various goodies on it (~270bhp). The Ibiza gives me pretty much the same buzz as the Impreza believe it or not, it doesn't feel that much slower either! (strange but true).

The 210 conversion will seriosly pish off the Impreza guys (unless they have really serious STi or 22B hardware), get one, you won't regret it.

ta,
Matt.

Well I guess that does it then......I am 90% there to be honest, the MG looks...well new and not many on the road but I like the long term ideas for the engine of the ibiza etc etc.

All I gotta do now is sell the Golf and find out where I am gonna buy the Ibiza from?

Many thanks for the thoughts Matt it's all well helping me along the way now!
