Converted!...
Fear me!...lol
I have 2 mates who drive the Focus TDCI (great car ) after seening me transfer from the Focus to the Leon FR both are looking at doing the same. Funny thing is it's not that the Focus is a bad car, just a little underpowered for the Diesel (145bhp/245lbs - With a tuning box ), Hence my change . Now they have both seen mine they are going on sunday for a test drive Both were very impressed with the look and the power of just the standard car. Will let you know if there are another 2 converts!

I have the backing of all the other smt memebers, as no one can say that I am doing it for self gain..

Show them what it can do with Revo
Bet some of the ST boys over there won't be impressed with it! I had an encounter with an FFOC ST on the M56 last year, he was weaving in and out of traffic on a busy, twisty, motorway sliproad and cut me up, so I caught him up on the M56, followed him for a while, traffic cleared, he pulled to the middle lane and floored it, thinking he was going to pull away, I drove past him, eased off into left lane having proved my point and he went flying past at a silly speed. Left a "was it you in an ST who got passed by a diesel" but funnily enough I never got a reply

Went out with a mate of mine in a focus tdci and it's a cracking car, ridiculouly stable at silly speeds round the bends and really got me thinking which direction I was gonna place my order. However after going out in a Leon FR tdi, I came to my senses - the focus is cracking, but the FR is even more special.

Agreed. The Focus TDCi is a great car and having driven a couple I was going to trade my ST in for one until I found the Leon Cupra TDi which I'm picking up this weekend

Ford never did a Focus sports diesel that was quick they had the "sport" but there was never any performance gains...
The missus has one, and I admit still great fun to drive.

Focus has independent rear suspension, so in theory will handle better, but the Leon has more power.
Having never driven the Leon, can't really say how it compares to the Focus.

I've never driven a Leon, but I've driven a Focus, and two Mk4 Golf's and believe me unless the Leon is MASSIVELY better than the Golf (GTI) then the Focus will leave it for dead on the twisties.

Used to have a Focus, and while it did feel better round the bends - especially after it was lowered and fitted with bigger rims etc, and the body didnt roll as much as the Leon etc, I find the Leon has more grip in the bends than my old Focus (theres a couple of nice national speed bends round here where the Focus got a little understeery at 55mph and the Leon manages 60 ok - although I've had a few scary moments in the Leon when changing direction at speed (with the body roll) whereas the Focus was solid and liked to be thrown around.
The Focus might have felt more stable in the bends, but there was no power to drag it out of the corners. Its hard to beat the power, economy and comfort levels for the price you pay for a Cupra/FR TDI.

Too much grip can also be a bad thing. I'd much rather drive a car with less grip and better handling, as the car with less grip will ultimately be safer to find its limits. My old Fabia vRS had more grip than my current Golf GTI, but the GTI is a much better handler, and it is easier to find its limits, and is more fun to throw around.
