Arrow Auto-Scan HELP....

today i used my vag com for the first time

first thing i did was made my alarm chirp which sounds good i think

however i came across one problem (yes iv searched! lol)... when doing an Auto-Scan, on a few controllers it didnt seam to be able to read it, said...

"Note: Cant Synch Baud Rate"

any ideas as to wat this means?

the reason y i got vag com was so i could check for fault codes on my car/engine etc!

here is a copy of what it said after i did an Auto- Scan...

VAG-COM Version: Release 311.2-N

Skipping Address 15-Airbags

Address 17 -------------------------------------------------------

Address 19 -------------------------------------------------------

so what does "Note: Can't Synch Baud Rate" mean??? i want to find out if i have any fault codes on my ecu/engine, but it seams i cant at the mo/i dont know how to.

any help would be much appreciated

cheers,
james

Most likely that means you're using a USB<->Serial converter, one which doesn't work well with VAG-COM. Try a different converter, a PCMCIA serial port, or a real USB interface. Note: Real USB interfaces do not "emulate" COM ports.

If you're plugged into a real serial port, it means you're using a really crappy interface...:-)

"PCMCIA serial port, or a real USB interface...crappy interface..." sorry you have lost me a bit with the jargon!

basically i got a cable off a m8, and when i came to use it i noticed it wouldnt plug into my laptop

so i went to maplins and baught one of these (a usb serial adaptor)... http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...=29968&doy=2m5

it cost £20 and i knew i could get one on ebay for a lot less so i thought id get the maplins one use it on the weekend, then get my money back and buy one on ebay for a lot less!

last night i baught one of these on ebay (for £6.46)... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...765330243&rd=1

please tell me this usb serial adaptor will work? if not, can anyone show me a link to one that will?

cheers,
james

just had another look at the difference in spec of the maplins usb serial adaptor i baught and the one i baught on ebay last night...

the ebay one supports usb 1.1 and 2 (maplins doesnt support usb 2)
the ebay one supports over 1Mbps data transfer rate (maplins one is 500Kbps)

would either of those 2 factors be a reason y the maplins one didnt work properly?

J@ames

Where in vagcom did you set the chirps to on? I had a quick look the other day but couldn't find it!

Also, does anyone have vagcom info on the mk4 Ibiza? I can't seem to find any anywhere... A service/heynes manual seems to be like finding rocking horse poop!!!

Cheers in advance!

no heynes manual... heynes mk4 golf is an option tho.

i searched to find how to turn the chirp on

but stil... go to select control module, then click 46.Cent. Conv,

then you click adaption, then scroll up to about number 8 i think and change the 0 to a 1 and it will turn it on... you will understand what i mean when you get there

hope this helps!
