Castle Combe today. Dialynx wins again

Went to Combe today.. to see Keith Murray in the Combe Saloon championship in his new A4 Quattro. Well prepped motor.. 1.8T powered with Motec ecu and GT30 turbo.

Went well, set pole, got protested as being illegal (dont ya love racing!) but was cleared after a very long scruitineering post quali/practise.

2nd on the grid is the favourite in an ex Rover Tomcat, with extremely aggressive driver (as viewed from the outside) - he shunted some poor novice girl of hard at quarry which wrecked her fiesta!

Off the line.. 4WD and Keith set 2.5 sec gap before quarry! LOL
Maintained this for a few laps, then pulled out the gap. Tomcat blokie broke down and pulled off.
4th win on the trot, which has set the cat amongst the pigeons with the locals.. He still drives with his novice cross on the back as he's experienced in hill climbs but not circuit racing.

The times make me want to get my ibiza sorted... as they're the same as I do round Combe! 1m17s lap for pole.

Well done to Keith. Top job, but he needs some competition now..
Should I slap some numbers on the side of ickle ibiza and go play?

Nah I wouldn't bother, just talk about it for a few more years first - going fast on a trackday is one thing, going racing is another - maybe you dont have what it takes when it comes down to it.......but what if you do ?

Only one way to find out (gooooo-on ave a go)

Shall I fetch the numbers box now ?

Rob

Consensus in my computer rooms says no....... fast car yes, but still fast after 20 mins of late breaking & some muppet in a £200 shell cost Rover wanting to join with the back seats of your Ibiza....

now if you built the 'rocco up..........

As others have said, could you face rebuilding your car because of someone elses lack of ability/brains ? Even cheap motorsport is quite expensive...

Sounds like the issue is people driving into you and recking your car - and the cost implication of this - very understandable, couldn't afford it myself - there is an alternative though, a form of competitive motorsport where you are never at danger of people driving into you...........

Nice one by the way if you read this Keith

Easy peasy..
10 laps at a conservative 1m20s laps is 13mins - which I think even my motor can sustain.. (read brakes) - I have done 30mins sessions and hour long sessions but had to stop 1/2 way thru as I was running out of brakes.

Sirocco is too old... they have a 10 year rule which is excluding 205's this year.

Keith's been at it again last weekend - five wins out of five so far. The seasoned campaigners must be going nuts

Looking forward to seeing it go at the combined VW Cup / Combe Saloons meeting on Sunday 26 June .
