Oil worries

Ive just picked my LCTDI up from the garage and the guy has used "Fully Synthetic" Long Life Vauxhall 5w30w oil. Should I be taking it back? Im quite worried.

I would take it back. I had a similar problem with mine. Took it to a new Seat Dealer, who also deal in Vauxhalls, for an oil change. They used a semi-synth non-Seat standard oil. When I phoned them they didn't seem to know which oil should have been used but after checking with Seat they took the car back, did a full engine flush and changed the oil for the proper stuff.

I took it back and bought some Millers XFE-PD 505 01 oil. He put the new oil in and refunded me the difference plus some extra. Happy now.

Got the Oil for £21.99. Good price?

Not used the car much this weekend, did an oil level check last night and its been over filled by about 1cm on the dipstick. Anything to worry about?

Anyone know what make parts are used for servicing?.....filters etc.

The extra oil is not good in a diesel.
And the extra will pour in the exhaust system with a threat of cloggin the cat,,,
Now don't go mental mate, but try to take some oil out.

damn garages,,,

How will it pour into the exhaust when it is stored in the sump? Does the extra oil backsplash pass the piston rings into the chamber?

More likely it'll get blown out of the crankcase ventilation system, which vents into the inlet tract - where it combines with soot from the exhaust gas recirculation to clog up your inlet...

That's my guess anyway
