shall i swap my tuned 2000 1.8t (98k) for a 1996 subaru impreza WRX (60k)

my mate at work has offered to swap me my mk4 gti (running about 220hp) ,18" rs4, lowered on springs, custom tb exhaust, revo, samco tip, bailey dv for a 1996 (n) wrx impreza with around 60k miles on it with a magnex cat back and a bailey atmostpheric dump valve.

i been preparing my car for an ihi conversion but would it be more worthwhile just getting this and selling the bits i got for my ihi?

Personally i think you would be mad to even consider swapping. Your car in 3 years will still be worth something, whilst the scooby will have halfed again in price.

i'm seeing a lot of higher mileage older subaru's on teh market

I wonder if people buy them, run them, shit their load at the running & servicing costs, sell them just before a big service & hope that someone buys it without looking

if someone's willing to swap, there's a catch

that sort of mileage on your type of car in my experience won,t put off the interested buyer. As long as its well maintained, even better a full vag history, you should have no problems.

Scooby,s on the other hand, especially the older ones are money pits.

i`m not really bothered about the 4x4 but i`m bothered about the 98k miles that my car has covered. i want more power but i`m worried about the 98k miles that the engine and g/box has on it and my plans to ihi it (i`ve allready got the turbo and injectors)
i heard that somebody had ihi`d a high mileage car. anybody got any info?

how much you reakon i`d get for my golfy (bear in mind it needs a bumper re-spray, and has a rusty arch.) full vwsh. interior is nigh on mint.

98k on your motor is nothing, dont worry they run forever, regular servicing and oil changes and your laughing.

i do like subaru's but they aint a vw. chances are the subaru is an import so parts are harder to source and people no that so can exploit it. i used to work on mitsubishi gto's so i no the costs involved.

subaru's do sound awesome though but get the ihi on the golf
i

hmm, i think i`m getting excited at the prospect of the noise but it think i`d miss the shear class of the golf.

hmmmmm. if i bite the button (i`m half way there with the bits) and get the ihi on then i think i`ll stick with the golf. will it beat the subaru with a 300bhp ihi conversion?
