BTCC End of Season Predictions / Guesses

OK - so the 4th Driver idea for SEAT Sport UK as a viable championship proposotion is all but gone... with two rounds left, SEAT aren't in the running.

So.....

With the comments made on Tin Top Tuesday a couple of weeks ago about 'finding a car/budget/driver' it made me sit back & think a bit.

Finding the car will be easy. Gene (WTCC) now has his Leon, freeing up a Toledo. More WTCC drivers will be getting Leon's before the year is out. This will free up some S2000 Toledo Cupra's.

So - my guess would be that they could run 4+ Toledo's at Brands Hatch - which will be a massive event, both as season finale, and because it's about the first time this year that the GP circuit has been used.

So... who would do the driving? I'm not sure if it'll cross with a WTCC meeting, but I doubt that Rydell (nice guy though he is) will come back, so maybe it'd be a home grown driver

Perhaps if the SCC is concluded at Silverstone, and Tom Boardman wins, he won't need to drive the final round - so perhaps this would be his 'test'

Maybe SEAT Sport UK could run all the tolly's. block the road & set JP off to lap the field. That'd be cool.

I do like that idea!

That would be a good plan, although it's not as clear-cut as it appears. When I spoke to Boardman at Snetterton, he was saying that they drop the points from two rounds, and he has scored points in every round, whereas some of his closest rivals have had DNF's, so it may go down to the wire.

Get 4 Toledo's to all ram Muller and Neal off the track, then jump out of their cars and set about them!!! Now THAT'S a season finale!

Remember when Steve Soper deliberately rammed John Cleland off the track to let his BMW team mate win the championship, Cleland was out his car trying to punch Soper through the side window - class!

Yeah, I remember the days when all the BMWs used to gang up on everyone else to help one of their lot win!

Don't talk to me about that incident, I'm still very bitter about it 13 years on.........

In the SCC part of www.seatsportuk.co.uk, there are two sets of scores, the gross score listed in "Standings", and the corrected score listed in "Season Overview" which takes account of the dropped races. As you can see, Boardman drops 24 points whereas Jackson drops none, so the gap is really only 22 points at the top rather than the 46 points that the table indicates.
