headuint removal advice wntd

hi guys im picking my new ibiza 20v t up on sunday but it has the factory fitted tape player and i want to fit my pioneer motorised screen into the area where the tape is.

can some one give me some pointers as to how to di-assemble the console?

when the console comes off can the radio easily be removed from the facia? (whats involved) so just the facia is left with holes for where the tape slot ans some buttons were. (could i then jigsaw a din size slot into the facia)

do any of the radio functions etc appear on the screen in the car? and will the screen still work if it is removed.

Which version Ibiza are you getting? Mk3 or 4? I'm guessing it's not a 4 as they've never come with tape players. In which case I think you're screwed, when it comes to the Mk3, as they don't come out. No doubt someone will be along shortly to prove me wrong though.

yes im on about the mk3

ive seen a picture of some guys dash who has done this (yellow biza h888ky) his is a mk3. just wondering if some one could tell me if it is possible to take thee old headunit off the console without it messing up the info screen. if this can be done i will give ther rest a go myself and experiment. while doing so i will take pics and later post a how to.

so can the headunit be seperated from the info centre screen and the console facia? without messing up the display on the info screen?

Yes and no, you can do it, but you have to keep a lot of the standard HU because it controls the climate etc. TBH if you're having to ask how hard it is it's not something I would advise you tackle yourself.

bought a 2nd hand dash off fleebay and i have converted my headunit to allow a single din h/u to be fitted. pics to follow, all electrical work was given to a local electrical tele shop and cost me a fiver. spare dash soon to be converted also and will be up for sale on a part exchange basis.
