Tailgate adjustment

Just need a little advise on how to adjust the tailgate.

My Cupra's tailgate sits a little proud due to the rubber bungs being adjusted to there maximum point. When they are fully wound in the tailgate rattles like a champ.
I'm unsure of the process as I have tried before but ended up just tightening the bolts back up again because I saw very little movement.

Because they are at there maximum point I can here my new exhaust really well So I guess it's not sealing the boot as well as it should.

Any ideas how I should do this?

what id do is put some grease on the top of the bungs, screw them in fully and see if the grease touches the bodywork, and unscrew a bit at a time accordingly until the grease touches the bodywork andleaves a mark.

i found it wasn't my tailgate that was rattling, it was the plastic shroud that needed unscrewing and soundproofing in the boot lid.

hope this helps

Pretty sure Pedro did a poor job of alligning the boot and the doors as both rattle.
Will try the grease thing later. It does stop rattling when the bungs are at full adjustment.

Leeroy when i get chance ill get one up, i just used some double sided sticky sound proof thing around the edge, if you drop the two covers out, unscrew and unclip you will see why it rattles inside.

Yeah or you could try bluetack, just something that you can use to measure when the bungs hit the bodywork.

try winding the rubber bungs in as far as they will go and adjusting the boot catch striker on the car body instead, if u loosen it slightly and move it in tighter to the car then wen u shut the boot it will be closed tighter to the seal, sealing the bootlid correctly. then just re adjust the rubber bungs as before.

hope that all makes sense!!

How much adjustment should there be when adjusting the catch striker?
Should it move quite a bit or just a few millimeters.
