20K service cost me £450

Just had a call from Seat.

A service i was expecting to cost round £250 is now closer to £450!!

As well as doing my 20K service they were due to replace my front splitter (due to a pothole) £20.
Also my front pads are apparently 95% worn and need replacing at a grand total of £180.

Tracking is out so needs sorting £20

and due to poor tracking i have uneven wear on my front tyres.

just waiting for a call now to tell me my head gasket has gone

do some of these quotes seem excessive?

If yours is an LCR, then you've done v well to take 20k to do the pads - more than a few are lasting 10k (although it's much to do with the driving style)

20K for front pads seems normal! I've just recently bought a LCR with 20K miles and most people i called either just had the pads done or they were close to the sensor in the pad.
Seat seem to charge around £160-180 for pads and fitting so it sounds about right. I don't know why seat charge so much for the pads anyhow ! It's crazy !!
I needed some pads and i've just had them done for about a Qtr of that price,.i know a very very nice man !
Splitter is ~£20..Hope you got it all sorted and it didn't need anything else !!

I have just had the 20k service on my LCR and was advised that the front pads would need changing soon - first set (put it down to progressive driving with raised vision )
I didn't get them done at the dealer - I bought a set from quattroman's group buy and fitted them myself. Cost about £40 all in and took just over an hour - including giving the calipers a good clean and wire brushing the pins etc. Easy job.

£450 was it for now, getting splitter done tomorrow. From reading more on here it seems people tend not to go for the brembo pads when changing. What are peoples recommended brake pads for the LCR?

do a serach, there are quite a few different choices, The Brembo pads can be a little soft, although mine have lasted over 20k and still plenty of meat on them. I got my 40K service next and am proper shitting it, " Mr Jordan, would you please bend over"!!!!

But does'nt the car feel better once its all serviced, even if it is only in your mind.....

Next time thank your lucky stars you do not own an Audi, a guy in the office here just paid £985 for his 32k service ( variable servicing) on a 1.9Tdi, he has vowed to go to france next year.

I was thinking about getting mine done next year when in Le Mans as there was a nice SEAT Dealer down the road.

180 for pads is taking the pssi , i paid 70quid for my ds2000 (not 4pot brembo i admit) and had the fronts fitted in about 30mins ,

in my opinion , get good pads from badger pads and get a good local mech. to fit them

10000 miles for a set of pads(company car-dealer service-brembo pads) is about average for me--sometimes less sometimes more miles, depending on motorway miles.

Slightly off topic but the last set of dealer pads I got clunked every time I changed direction, must be slightly small in the caliper

Hoping the new ones I'm getting wil be OK , certainly can't be any worse.
