Induction kit & Traction Control

Over at parents house yesterday and brother said it may be an idea to put a induction kit in my car.

fre hours later its in.
i have 110 SX TDI and it has made some diffrence to noise.. which is neither here nor there, but the main thing i have noticed is that when driving completly normally pulling away the traction control kicks in. as pretty as that light is its not normaly blinking at me most of the time!

could the Induction kit have caused this? not that i am able to see any link.. but its ony happened since it was put it.

cheers

It will affect the air flow and maybe the MAF? I know that if the MAF is dodgy, the traction control light comes on (well it did on mine) - god knows why!

whats a MAF? its not all the time, but from a weeks worth of driving where it only came on when i was really thrashing it about to pretty much every time i pull away and get a little bit of a spin.

before when the standard thing was in was ok. then agian i have only had the car a week.
Traction controll light only came on when i decide to see exactly how fast i can get to 0-60 in.

any wonder then , thats wat it does , cuts power to prevent wheel slip n flashes the light to warn u , if u wanna do quick 0-60 runs switch it off , light will stay on permanately to warn u , nottin to do with induction kits ,

ps most peeps are happy with a green replacement filter in the standard air box

MAF is the Mass Air Flow sensor - it monitors the amount of air being sucked into the engine and tells the car how much fuel to put in. It could be affected by an induction kit, but in my limited experience, I would expect your traction control light to be on permanently, if the MAF was knackered (there are many people on here who may correct this assumption!).

You have since said that your light only comes on when you are trying to see how fast you can get to 60mph. I guess that the traction control light means that your traction control is kicking in......

-hides sheepishly-

well.. on that note.. at least i know it works!

i am used to cars that do as they are told and have no help from them what so ever.
i finally mentioned something to my other half as he was getting in the car, something along the lines of "oh yeah, tinkered with the air intake, may sound/feel a tiny bit diffrent" he then poped the hood and was like "thats not a cheep tinkering ..." but then said it soudned nicer and less whiney. so hes happy!

it just seemed that he traction control light was getting with the festivity and flashing like a christmas tree light. i shall stick a fairy on the top of my car to make it feel more at home!

marginally.. yeah. definatly a diffrent noise.

my other half got in to play with it and said "not hugely drematic, but noticable, car feels a little bit quicker"

the 0-60 is now under 10 seconds but then again my other half is a loon and normaly drives a 1.8T Audi A6 and thrashes that about like a go-kart.
