My car is at JBS for a GT3071R fitting.

Thought people might be interested to know that I recently dropped my car off at JBS for a bit of work. Getting new internals and a GT3071R mounted on an equal length manifold along with a 6spd gearbox and a Spec Stage 3+ clutch and flywheel.

More details to follow along with progress pics.

I hope they turn it around faster than Andy Dea's Gt28rs Ibiza. Jbs said a 2 week job. I think that was 8 weeks ago. I still dont know if its back yet. Gt3071r is a great turbo though cant fault you on that choice.

Jason - The haldex controller is really good, one of the best performance mods I've done, easily on a par with a remap for the difference it makes.

Phil - As Jason correctly said I'm running Brembos like those supplied by Bill.

Madmile - I was told before dropping it off that it'll be finished for GTI international. As JBS want it on their stand then I'm sure they'll make sure it's finished.

LMAO... like fast turnrounds are available from other tuners too....
(pots and kettles)

MrsB Lupo 8 week project which was 6 month in the end, but faultless when done and ever since.

Best to have it "right" and not neccessarily "right now"

This sounds a good set ideal for those RS4 take offs "bounce it off the red line then side step the clutch"

Just got back from JBS, I called in for a cuppa as I was passing.

My engine is now out and the head has been sent out along with the valves for skimming and inlets enlarging by 1mm.

Engine is waiting for the pistons to arrive before being sent off for it's rebore.

Engine bay has been prepped and the propshaft has been modified ready for the 6spd box.

Also for those interested here's a bit more detail on the spec but it's by no means inclusive.

GT3071R with CNC machined inlet
Stainless steel equal length manifold
Stainless steel downpipe and decat
Inconnel valves with 1mm bigger inlet
Pauter rifle drilled rods
JE overbore pistons
630cc Injectors
4 bar fuel pump
Oil pump
Coolant run on pump
Lots of other bits (bearings etc..) to make the engine like new
Custom Code Phase 3

Then of course there's the gearbox stuff as mentioned earlier.

BTW I saw Andy Dea's Ibiza whilst I was there, appeared to a have AFR meter connected up so must just be doing the final mapping.

I know... done it myself on a mk4 inc 2 days mapping it, Mon to Friday (5 day)

Having seen on track what Tims GT30R goes like, in responce terms and shere grunt too, its a 4wd complementry turbo. FWD is very much going to struggle when you let it rip. Some very serious traction to try and sort out.
Balistic when it hooks up.

Mind the g'boxes tho... on 5spd ones.

Got to admit more power would be nice but is 400bhp reallly as far a fwd can cope with. I can imagine constant wheel spin in every gear would be come boring. Maybe a genuine 375-400bhp is the ideal.

I think its the real max figure too. fwd and the power level approaching the 400bhp & 400lbft is asking a lot.

245 section tyres on mine and they could light up in every gear in the damp with 380-400bhp/lbft

4th & 5th grip in the dry tho so more power available for those gears
