My car was stolen this morning...
Yes i am an idiot i ran in the newsagaents with my key in the ignition
& in 15 seconds my car was gone i wouldnt mind i moved from liverpool to a sleepy cheshire village to get away from that sh1t!anyway it goes like this 5:55am run in newsagents come out & find its gone, ring the police inform them my car has a tracker 5:57am tracker ring me confirm some details 6:00am i have 3 volvo estates pulled off the motorway circling around the village 6:40am they ring me to say they have found it & i need to bring the spare key to the scene so they can move it so they dont damage it putting it in the low loader.. 7:00am get to the scene not a scratch on it but i have had my wallet taken with £1100 in it all my keys which means i have to change the locks at home & at work so now stafford police have it impounded but cheshire have to investigate due to it being reported there! god only knows when i will get it back... so please learn from my stupid mistake, dont leave your keys in your car!!!!

That is harsh! Sorry to hear that!
I know what you mean about taking the chance, its kind of like 'Oh im only going in for a few seconds itll be ok' but this just goes to show its not worth the risk! Im sure you know this now It cant be nice having your car stolen, what-ever the reason Good you got it back and hands up to the Police as they seemed very quick with the response How come you had so much money in your wallet?

Damn! I am sorry for you mate.
I hope you get it back soon. Seems strange in a way that they went for it so quick. Do you think you may have already been watched? Very worrying to think that though, i hope that wasn't the case and it was an oppertunist thief.

Good result for the boys in blue (for once I hear you all cry). But bad luck on the cash. I fear that in the circumstances insurers won't help but if you and your car are fine you've got to count your blessings.

Glad you have got the car recovered undamaged mate. But there is no bad luck involved - leaving £1100 cash in the car in a public place is stupid enough, but leaving it open with the keys in it? WTF were you thinking?

i guess you're beating yourself up enough, without all of us telling you you're stupid
![]() glad you got the car back ok, sorry bout the holiday fund ![]() yes, the police did a good job by the sound of it. trouble is, it'll probably stop there. getting the car back is a result, getting the money back just won't happen. next time they actually arrest and charge someone, they'll cop the blame for yours as well!!!

you should be able to claim for a portion of each from 'car contents' and 'house contents' for cash out side of the home
I can't remember what my policies allow, but it might be ~£500 ea on a boggo policy. lesson learned I guess, and at least all the costs you'll encurr will be the £140 recovery fee from the police.
