is there any special requirement in terms of wheel nut size/width when buying new alloys??? or are all cars pretty much standard?

The numper of bolts must be the same, obviously, but also the distance between each bolt is cruical. some cars are 100mm so the bolt pattern would be called 5x100.

As for the width and size, the leon can take 19" alloys as a maximum but you may have issues - 18 is a better option. As for width 8" seems to be the maximum that doesn't affect steering/suspension

The wheel offset is also important, but you can sometimes use wheel spacers if you have a wheel that doesn't fit properly.
