SEAT Leon Door Card Removal

This was one job I was hoping I would never have to do - not because its hard just I never thought there would be any reason to do it. However, after finding that my passenger front door tweeter had blown (or at least I thought it had) I decided to replace it and see what happens. Obviously to do this I had to remove the door cards, and so here is how I did it! You will only need a 3 tools - a torx screwdriver, a large philips (+) screwdriver and possibly a large flat bladed screwdriver for prising the card from the door.

The first step is to remove the inner door handle plastic trim. This can be prised off relatively easily - a small screwdriver can help. You will need to pull on the metal door handle to remove the plastic trim around it as it comes away. When it is off, you should be able to find 2 large philips screws at either end of the handle - shown in the photo opposite. These need to be removed.

The other two screws have a torx head, and are located on the bottom edge of the door. Remove these two and then you need to carefully prise the doorcard away from the door. I used a large flat bladed screwdriver, and started from the top corners and it pretty much came off without issue. The only thing I must say is there will be a lot of cables/wires connected to the doorcard, so dont go and yank it off or pull it away from the door - if you need to totally remove it you will need to disconnect all of these cables first.

Refitting is reverse of removal, simply push the doorcard back onto the door, making sure all wires are reconnected and not trapped, and then put the screws back in. Test everything works (door handle, lock, speakers, lights) before completing the fitting process.

Voila!
