FORGE SIDE MOUNT INTERCOOLER FITTING GUIDE & REVIEW FOR LEON 20VT

Introduction:

This guide is for the Forge Side Mount Intercooler, originally designed for the VW Golf MkIV this is identical placement and all sensors and fixings will fit any Leon 20VT

Forge have posted these graphs relating to the gains they experienced when testing their IC on a Golf, i have been unable to verify these claims as ive not had chance to have the Leon tested, since i fitted the IC, my latest figures (before i fitted the new IC) on my Leon were recently at the Stealth Racing RR day, 203bhp and 232lbft Torque . APR EMCS Stage 1 1bar Remap.

Results:

I can't really give a fully conclusive report which gives true power gains with graphs, as i originally intended to do. But I can give my impressions of the results ive experienced first hand after driving the car for several weeks with Forge's SMIC on my Leon REVO for technical advice, and of course Mark Phelps, and Lorna for the use of their home, and other members of the NW Pasty Crew for helping me to have a great weekend and fitting a super piece of kit.

See below for Mark Phelp's Guide to fitting the IC to a Leon

When refitting the bumper you will need to push the bumper cover HARD into the guide rails on the side.

Now gently (yeah right) go for a run to make sure that no pressure is being leaked from the pipes - the car will feel very underpowered if this happens or it may possibly blow off a hose if its not tight, dont worry, just go back and resecure the pipe work after gingerly driving home. :).

TOOLS USED:
Trolley Jack
Axle Stand(s)
Assorted screwdrivers
Medium Metric Socket set with extensions
Medium Torx Driver set - for use with ratchet
