 | Team air cool driver Adam Jones came away from Brands Hatch last weekend leading the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship's Independents trophy by two points from Northern Irelands Colin Turkington. This was an amazing turn around in fortune for the West Midlander who only six weeks ago was still trying desperately to find the funds to race in Britain's biggest championship. |

Although the small team are still racing on a very tight budget, Adam has managed to put together a very experienced group of people who will be looking after his Spanish built SEAT Toledo Cupra. Backing for the project comes from long time supporters Air Cool Engineering (midlands) and Solihull based vehicle repair specialists Bodywork (solihull) also lending their support to the team are specialised alloy wheel retailers Wheelmania who have retail outlets throughout the Midlands and the North West.
The first time that Adam sat in the car was only two days before the team set of for Brands Hatch when he had a half day test at Croft circuit in Yorkshire, this may not have been the ideal situation to embark on the biggest challenge in his motor racing career, but he had little choice as the engine had only arrived from Spain a few days before. But as Adam said "The minute that I got behind the wheel of the car I new that it was going to be competetive, and the team where on it straight away" Perhaps the biggest factor in Adam's early season success is the experience of the GR Asia crew at running SEAT race cars, the Newport based team will be looking after Adam's car in addition to doing the World Touring Car Championship with a pair of SEAT Leon's. this season. The teams next race will be on the high speed banked corners of Rockingham Speedway, which should suit the Toledo better than the twists and turns of 'The Hatch." Asked about his chances in the next round of the championship Adam said If we can keep out of trouble and the car stays reliable I am confident that we can come away from Rockingham with another good haul of championship points. |
