Engine Noise

Only had my cupra 2 weeks and done around 600 miles had anyone noticed the engine become louder as in a tapping noise?

Just don’t expect this from a new engine or do the cupras have a noisy engine while ticking over?

They all sound like diesel powered sewing machines mate. Don't worry about it

the FSI high pressure fuel injectors are VERY clicky.

I have beer all over my keyboard now... unfortunately its true though, sometimes I think mine sounds more like a diesel than a diesel when I 1st start it up!

That's reassuring to hear your comments guys as I've always thought that my FR TFSI was a bit 'ticky', especially when cold.

I'm always checking the oil level to make sure its not running low, but if the noise is normal I can relax a bit now...

As said the ticking is the injectors and the rattly diesel like start up is just the hydraulic tappet adjusters before they get the correct pressure in them \ adjust.

Once you have 10000 miles on the clock you will find the noise continues even when hot

I'm glad i read this thread and i'm now a happy chap as i was worrying about the diesel sounding petrol engine. No worries i guess. Last night when i got home with the new cupra my missus stuck her head out of the door to have a 3 second look (as they do) and said "is it a deisel?" NO ITS NOT I SAID. but i was slightly worried at that point, i needn't have been !

Wouldnt have thought a cylinder head would have quietened down the fuel pump or fuel injectors
