Volkswagen Racings PD140 Caddy has run 300bhp,I Had the pleasure of having a small drive of it the other day

With Refrence to a Hybrid PD170 it wont increase Your Power it will just reduce the wear and tear on the normal Turbo, Big Turbo is the way to go! well its the way im going anyway :cartman:

Correct ANdrew, already quizzed turbo dynamics (i think) and thats what they said...

So what "big turbo" is there that would be appropriate...? Anything in mind...? :D

I quizzed them aswell,Nope havent a clue at the moment

Im really stuck what to do at the moment aswell with the clutch

Do i get a new OEM DMF or do i get a SMF to go with, i drove VW Racings Caddy the other day i believe it had a Paddle Clutch + OEM DMF it felt really good, I asked them about the DMF and they said it had been in ages and was fine im just worried if i get a new OEM DMF it wont last long again

Have you already went through a clutch? Mine is holding up, touch wood, but you do get a lot of judder in 4th at low revs when pinned so try to stay away from doing that. which is the more robust, SMF or DMF? Suppose a complete aftermarket upgrade is silly money compared to OEM?

Single mass seems to be more robust than the dual option. Single Mass Flywheels cause a lot of vibration in the cabin when stationary, which takes away a massive amount of refinement. Dual Mass Fly wheels have had there problems but are thought to be the best option. As it is the ONLY option with a form of refinement, mated to an uprated clutch it should be ok i've been told, so i think for a lot of us that is the next step :) Max load is in 4th 5th and 6th avoid booting from under 2-2.5k revs at all costs or your clutch will be F****D before you know it, to preserve the clutch boot it above at least 2k. Should really be 2.5k when boost comes on so you are missing the torque spike on max coming onto max torque which kills DMF's and friction plates:(

Nope im stilling running standard set up at the moment

DMF's are a pain in the rear but they where designed for refinement,SMF's vibrate like hell and give a horrible rattling noise when not in gear but ive read that a SMF Can damage the gearbox aswell so its decision time really

A Hybrid Turbo will increase power as it has upgraded compressor wheel etc which can flow larger volume of air. although not at much as a bigger turbo, although a bigger turbo can cause more lag, needs bigger injectors, custom manifolds making etc but will make more power!

It has been done on 140's by a few people on different forums. I cant remeber which as I went off the idea as too costly for my daily drive. Im goin to settle with about 220-230hp and then save for a weekend toy.

I think the choice of DMF or SMF depends on the power you want to achieve.

Although not a Leon, My Ibiza went as follows.

With hybrid turbo, exhaust and all the usual bits, I ran on the standard DMF for 100k miles with no problems whatsoever. So Approx 210-220 bhp.

I changed the clutch in January and put in a new DMF.
April - jne time I decided to go big turbo. After initial mapping it was making 256bhp/420lb/ft and this killed the new DMF in under 1000 miles.

I've got another mapping session to come but I'm going to go for SMF first.

I'd imagine most Leons would be in a similar state. DMF fine for anything up to hybrid power, SMF for anything greater

Yes that is me!

Its currently 220bhp with 400lbft, thats only running 1.6 bar of boost too which should be getting upped soon.

parts as follows: milltek turbo back(non res), GT20 hybrid turbo, helix clutch with smf, S3 intercooler, torque arm insert, H&R springs, cupra front brake set up, think thats about it really or all the interesting bits anyway :)
