Hi all, I ordered a new ibiza sc sport with the 1.2tsi engine back at the start of september from seat Kidderminster and was told to expect delivery by week 47-48. The thing is- i've called 6 times since i bought it waiting to be called in to go through the finance plan (pcp) and to pay the remainder of the deposit balance but every time i call i get fobbed off by the sales guy saying 'yes we're waiting to hear more information about the car and we'll call you back when we know'. I'm supposed to be picking it up next week!

If the worst has come true and its not going to arrive in time to qualify for the vat free promotion then i'm going to hit the roof- on the day i ordered it i went down to seat kidderminster and put a deposit on the car that they promised me would arrive before 31st december. Then just out of interest i contacted Droitwich seat and they actually had the car in stock! I called kidderminster back and said i was thinking of cancelling and going with Droitwich but I spoke to the manager and he assured me the car would arrive in time. I called back again yesterday afternoon and spoke to the business manager and was promised someone would call me back by the end of the day- guess what? No call!

I'm starting to lose my rag now; i just wish i'd gone with the family run seat Droitwich instead of the supposed 'big dealership' in Kiddy. I'm being treated like a mug and just think its really unprofessional. Anyone got any ideas whats going on?????

When I ordered my car last year at the end of October that was the set price we agreed on even though I picked it up in January I only payed 15% VAT on it.

I ordered mine I think october last year and took delivery in April this year, still paid the lower vat rate as that was what we agreed on and what I signed for. they will have to honor it even if it arrives in January. have you signed any agreement with them yet? If so they cannot change the price.

Have you spoken to Droitwich again to see if they have the car still or one similar? Then maybe call Kiddy and tell them you are cancelling due to poor customer service

I used to work at Clarks, might be a bit biased but i'd go with them over Droitwich any day of the week. If I were you either call Clarks and have a word with the DP, as soon as they know your concerns it will get sorted trust me, she is very good. Other option is go to their website, they have a little chat box that pops up and ask someone on there.

Thanks for the replys guys, just to confirm- yes the vat free promotion (saving me £2k) means that the vehicle has to be registered by 31st dec, sorry i should have made that clear in my original thread. I'm going to go in tomorrow after work if i finish on time to see exactly what the crac is. What makes this situation worse is that i had already agreed to purchase a c4 from a citroen dealer and put £250 deposit on it- when i then saw the seat offer i cancelled the order losing my deposit! So if seat cant get me the car then as far as i'm concerned they will owe me that £250! I mean I could have got the car from any number of other dealers, birmingham for instance had several but i thought i'd secured my ibiza so didnt need to chase one- theres non left now though! Maybe i'm just being paranoid and they're just badly run and my car is on its way (thats what i'm hoping). I'll let you know what they say, not impressed so far...

I still dont see how he should be penalised if SEAT have screwed up tbh.

I agree, but thems the terms set out by Seat.

I was initially trying to buy a white FR and they could not get me one before the 31st therefore would not qualify for the Vat free deal..
Sounds like the first dealership are to blame, but trying to get them to admit that and cover the VAT will be a struggle.

Hope you get it sorted, as said before I would get the other one if u can and demand the deposit back.

They aren't badly run and it seems odd that you would get a run around. The management take customer satisfaction very seriously so if your not happy speak to someone like I said, they will help you out im sure.

Sorry techie i'm not trying to bad-mouth the business; just disappointed with the way things have gone thus far. I will go in tomorrow and see what happens. If the car is ready for me then they will get a shining review dont worry!!

Just for comparison, my 1.2TSI SE 5DR took exactly 13 weeks from ordering to driving away.

Hey just an update- i've been really busy at work so haven't managed to go in but- i did call again to chase the un-returned call they gave me and i think i've made some progress. I managed to get the actual guy on the phone i'm dealing with and he said 'i'll check the system and get back to you', oh crap i thought, here goes another un-returned call, but to be fair he called me back in about 10 mins and said that there were no details of my car on the system as of yet but that even if my car does arrive after the 31st of december then they will still honor the vat free price. BUT, do i need to get that in writing??? And how are they honoring the vat free price? When i ordered it they made a big deal about the fact that it must be registered before the 31st. He also said that loads of people were in the same situation as me and they 'kidderminster seat' were honoring the sales even if they arrive late.

So, do i need it in writing? Should i believe them? Am i totally screwed???

If you want security, get it in writing. My dealer honouerd my deal after prices chaged as I had already signed an agreement and put down a deposit so it was all in the paperwork. they couldn't change it even if they wanted to as I would have just cancelled the deal and they would have had to find a new buyer. They were honourobale about it though.

Hey ttx just seen your post, i def wont be getting it before christmas then!!! Did you get yours vat free??

Yep, sure did! :)

They should honour it, after all you did order it during the offer period... I think the official wording was something similar to "cars ordered and delivered before the end of Dec 31st". To me, that's two eligible categories - "cars ordered" and "cars delivered". I fell into the latter category as the offer started a while after I placed my order.

Surely they wouldn't advertise an offer which is shorter than the lead time?!

I also ordered on the VAT offer at the start of October. I had a call today saying the car was delayed 4-6 weeks so It would not be registered in time. SEAT will honer the 17.5% VAT discount. However because VAT was going up to 20% in Jan I would have to pay the extra 2.5%. I told them to stick it and cancel the order.

Bit of a Joke to be honest. I was the 3rd person to cancel that day so It seems to be a common problem.

Wow thats a bit crappy of them to do that. If they try and pull that one on me i wont be a happy boy- mainly because i could have had the car several times over from other dealers but chose to stay with Kidderminster because THEY ASSURED ME the car would definately be ready for week 48 at the agreed price. Oh well, still no delivery date...

unless the dealer is going to pay the additional 2.5%??? expect to pay more if it is in the new year. I would call them and ask. I cant see many cars being delivered over xmas, from experience (used to work for VW ) it tends to be a slow time.
