So it has 2.1 in it. Was promised 2.2 as soon as the update becomes available so Im ok with that. I did enquire about the Kenwood unit but was advised not to go for it as the R has parking sensors which would not link with the Kenwood unit

Sorry to go slightly at a tangent but does MS2.2 read SMS messages from your phone. My Fiat's Blue & Me system does and I was wondering if the Leon will do the same. Thanks for any info.

I thought that there was no way to upgrade them from 2.1 to 2.2. Map update to 7 digit postcode search is possible but the extra functionality is not. There is a post further back saying this.

I think the guy said the update would not cover the voice activated bluetooth. To be fair he might not know, nobody else seems to!

Didnt someone say VW already had the 2.1 to 2.2 update earlier in the thread too?

Is there a way to see the firmware version of the media system?

I thought media system 2.x was just the model no?

Also, does 2.2 allow streaming of audio over Bluetooth?

how crazy is this I have the media system 2.0 which is older has the bluetooth voice control and I can legitimately buy an upgraded 2011 map disc which gives me full 7 digit postcode search !!!!

ask them to downgrade it and pay for the update disc :)

Seat seem to take one step forward and three back !

According to the Tele Atlas online shop, the 2011 maps have this difference over the 2010 maps for the Media System 2.0

"For the United Kingdom the input of 6 digit postal codes is now possible."

So still cant do 7 digits?

Well I have had 24hrs with 2.1 and I have to say I think its bloody fantastic. Had no issues with it what-so-ever. I still have not used the Nav much but the little play around I have had was fine

The 2.1 system is good, I stuck a 16GB SD card in (mrs made me buy a black one!) and it works well - its only the nav thats annoys me, full postcode is easier to use - if you have postcode and streetname then it does work. My issue was that my new postcode isnt in it, my old postcode is - which was updated 6/7yrs ago!

When I say new/old I mean the same street, we went through a postcode re-brand years ago

I know what you mean about the postcode but its very unlikely you would only have it and not the street name.

The bluetooth voice link was a little bit annoying at first but once I found my phonebook loaded into the system quickly I was relieved and its all cool now

Just a quick note.
I got my new satnav disc for my 10 plate cupra r today as the original was missing. The disc is a 2011 disc but it does have 7 digit postcode search.
I thought I had read earlier in the post this was not available?

lucky bugger wish my sat nav disk had been missing would have got an updated one then but then again use my sat nav regularly and so far been perfect to be fair how often do you only have a postcode if you have a street and town all's good :)

Was your a 2.1 system? I though the 2.1 (or have been told) this can only be updated by SD card. CD updates is available on the 2.0 system

Just checked mate I may be full of shite.
Looking through the info mine is a media 2.0 system. How can I tell? Do they look different?

It will say on the screen when you turn it on, plus it just mutes when you press the phone button if its 2.0.

Yeah it says media 2.0 silly me. When I press the phone button on the set it just mutes. But it does have bluetooth fitted. Must work seperately
