What do you recon everyone ? Which is better for a 1.2tsi engine in terms of engine health and power ect. Will the pipercross cold air induction venom kit work well enough ?

Thanks :)

i'd go with the panel filter mate, will give you a slightly deeper induction note and better air flow. also should notice a very slight increase in throttle response with a panel. i had a piper cross one on my fr 1.8t and loved it. never have to replace it either, just clean it every 10,000 miles.

i can't imagine an induction kit giving you any more power. been proven that they often have no benefit. would get a better noise with the induction kit though!

hope this helped :)

Mighty car mods did a myth buster on YouTube, quite extensive exploring all options, the only real way (in their eyes) to get a noticeable increase in power is to actually run a duct about 5 feet away from the engine lol.

It all really depends on your budget and what you really want to achieve, I paid too dollar for a custom ITG carbon induction but mostly for the looks. Panel filter will keep you looking standard under the bonnet and you may notice a very slight change in noise standing I front of the car with someone revving it. A cold air induction you will notice a noise difference and will also have a more modified look in the engine bay.

The most popular is an open cone filter due to the noise it produces but the heat from the engine will increase the air intake temperature and you risk losing power and fuel efficiency. This can usually be countered by using a heat shield but then again the effects are negligible.

In my eyes, stay standard, the stock filter is more than capable, unless you want to spruce up the engine bay then definitely go CAI

seen that mighty car mods episode! proved what I thought about cone filters all along. my mate's cooper s has an ITG panel and we noticed it has made the induction roar a bit deeper. I'm waiting on a pipercross panel arriving. Fancied the ITG carbon, but just haven't got the cash the now.

The cupras roar quite a bit anyway as standard. much better induction noise than my 1.8t FR

The sound is mostly down to the soundaktor in the 1.4 tsi. The mighty car mods one was very good because they actually explored majorly in depth with regards to intake temperature, flow, bho etc without making it boring lol. My ITG carbon sounds almost standard on idle but on boost makes a nice sucking noise haha

also really enjoyed the one where they mythbusted electronic superchargers lol. dunno how anyone would ever have believed you could get a power gain out of one of them haha!
