Cupra cambelt

What is the crack with the cambelt on the face lift cupra?

I've seen people mention 120k, is that right? So is it still 120K or 4 years, whichever comes sooner?

Sure my last cupra was 80k/4 years

Posted the second picture just now, mentions nothing about age.

Although I will scan the manual again and see if it mentions age.

Having quickly scanned the Maintenance Programme booklet cover to cover there is no mention of the age, it purely says 120k miles.

There is a mention of a check of the poly v-belt but that is done at an inspection service which is after the first 3 years or 40k miles (whichever is first) then every 2 years after that.

SEAT have changed their minds on the service interval more times than a woman deciding what to wear. Their current recommendation is 4 years or the mileage stated in the handbook.

Just over 12 months ago, their recommendation was 60k or 4 years.

I'm lucky because it was done when I bought the car less than 10k ago so my plans are not to worry about it at all lol.

If I were you mate I'd just go with what the manual says, as hard as it is because this 4years or 60k kind of gets drilled into you as it's what everyone spouts out when a cambelt is mentioned, but it wouldn't be in the manual unless it was the case.

If you have the money and want to get it done then fair play but if money is an issue then I'd go with what it says in black and white

Having said that, looking at the link in the previous post, if Seat do the cambelt on a petrol for £280 I'd get it changed just for peace of mind because I think that is a really good price.

They quoted me 650 or something?

My last cupra was quoted as 300 incl water pump


Iirc I read on here somewhere about SEAT putting the cupra/cupra R down as a TSI? Instead of TFSI

Seat have changed their cambelt intervals to every 5 years instead of 4 now as they believed it was too costly for it to coincide with the major service.

There's is no milage mentioned on elsa but it does say 5 years.

Vw quoted 160k on the 20vt belts - they rarely lasted 90k.
