Yes it's only available on the tech pack as you get the colour FIS screen and better media system.

Does anybody know what the cut-off for this adaptation is, or what models do and don't work? My 13-plate FR with the Tech pack won't take to it, it applies the change but doesn't change the appearance.

I have a 13 reg fr and cannot change the background to the carbon. Or activate the lap timer. Although I have been able to do it to a 14 reg.

I believe it was possible from model year 14 onwards. So around may 13 build vehicles onwards. I enabled it on my old FR.

I tried mine and mine was built around July 16 but the mod wouldn't work. It did play havoc with the splash screen on the radio start up but wouldn't entertain the carbon effect mod.

Essentially here is the steps to take depending on which year of car you have:
- Carbon Navi screen (for cars up to MY2015) Leon 5F,
Information Electrics,
Coding 70
Byte 17
Bit 0 false
Bit 1 true
Reboot the Radio (hold on/off button for 10 seconds)

- For cars from MY2016 or Navi plus, Leon 5F:
Information Electrics,
Coding 07
Byte 17
Bit 0 true
Bit 1 true
Radio reboot (hold on/off button for 10 seconds)
