Just bought a one owner FSH Seat Leon Cupra 20v Turbo.2002
Delighted with it.
First question:
Clutch biting point is very close to floor. Hasn't got worse over time.
Is there any adjustment possible?
What might be wrong?
Second question:
Can anyone give me a link to how to dismantle nearside passenger door to replace regulator and instructions/guide to the process
Many thanks

If the biting point is close to the floor, the clutch is probably on the way out. My mk1 when I had it needed a new clutch - it lasted 85,000 miles which is good - it was literally on its last legs and the clutch was on the floor. Needed new DMF and slave cylinder too - think it was an engine out job.

Clutch can be changed without removal, sub frame will need to be removed and aligned.

I think the specialist said it was easier to do it the engine out route - in and out in under a day.

So, clearly no adjustment to hydraulic clutch. What might be the ball park figure for clutch replacement? Is slave cylinder inside the housing?
Any ideas re the door issue above?

Each to their own really mate. On stands outside the house it take four hrs with a mate. Garage should say 6hr but as long as a deal is done labour/hrs means nothing.

You have the six-speed box, and the slave cylinder is inside the clutch bellhousing, concentric with the gearbox input shaft. Well worth changing it at the same time as the clutch/flywheel since all the stripdown steps will have to be done for both.

No you can't adjust, yes its in the housing, and take door card off and reseal take about an hr for first time. Most use silicon. Clutch replacement depends on what you want fitted. Clutch kit's are different prices depending on what you want and where you are lol. parts will be £400+ minimum including a flywheel and whatever labour is. Costly when added up but treat her right and it will probably last more than 80k.

The genuine DMF when I had mine was around £520 alone and that was about five years ago.
