Hi Folks,

Wondering if anyone can offer any advice on good places to get business insurance? My current insurance is with esure and they have quoted an extra £350 to cover MY20 cupra lux.

Admittedly my current car isn't business insured, but I'm changing job which will require business travel, so is the extra £350 expected or is there better companies out there that specialise in Cupra/Business insurance?

Additionally I had a call from Look After My Car in association with leasing options they want £800 to cover my 24month lease, to offer tyre/alloy repair, paint repair and gap insurance. Ultimately, is it worth it?

Many thanks,

Chris

I would shop around if I were you. A couple of years ago I added business mileage (7,000 out of a total of 16,000 p.a.) to the insurance on my wife's A-class and it made very little difference to the renewal premium. I think that was with Quote Me Happy, which is part of Aviva.

wont your company pay difference you're spending on the insurance ?

This. Whenever I've had to use my car for business purposes, the company has always offered to pay the difference for business insurance. Either that or they supply a company car / hire car.

My company pay me mileage which is intended to cover the cost of insurance, fuel, depreciation and maintenance. works out around 40p a mile.

Best thing is to make sure you tell the insurance company the correct business mileage. As stated above, AVIVA is a good choice, I think some companies like Direct Line, AVIVA and churchill offer business cover as standard for certain professions. I am a surveyor and cover roughly 3,000 miles a year for business on site visits. Sometimes less. What I get paid for in mileage expenses more than covers the cost of the slight increase in insurance.

So I get a car allowance from my company as my job requires me to travel to different client sites, so in some ways yes they do cover this but I get a set allowance every month so the cheaper I get the business car insurance, the more that ends up in my pocket.

I'll have a look at Aviva.. I use to have age prejudice with insurance companies but I'm 28 this year so don't think it'll be a huge factor..

I was getting quoted £850 for 12k miles business insurance.

that seems high.
I was quoted £600 for 15,000 miles with AXA business insurance and I'm not even 25 yet.

My business portion with the AA was about £35 per year of the premium. Our company pays 35p per mile business which can be above HMRC's Mileage Allowance Payments scheme paid to the employee in which case it needs declaring on a P11D as tax will be due on the overpayment. :censored:
