    Cupra 290 question

Is there a timing belt or chain on the Cupras? Been searching for a definite answer, but not found it, but what I can find suggests chain? Is there any kind of service that it requires if it is a chain?

Advice on buying MK3 Leon FR

Price of 184's seems to have gone up in recent weeks/months I was surprised how much I got for mine at trade in and he's whacked a grand on it and I bet it sells looking at others listed at the moment. Stone chips are par for the course with these, but at that money I'd be expecting him to sort...

what did you and your mk3 leon do today

Followed on from yesterday and polished out a light scratch on the front near side bumper, almost got rid of one on the rear offside bumper (barely noticeable now but I didn't want to go too far), then pressure washed off, quick shampoo and dried off. Then I waxed it with some Poorboys red...

what did you and your mk3 leon do today

First wash since I got it 10 days ago. Decontaminated and sealed wheels. Usual snow foam, wash and then went around the car getting plenty of tar off (red car, almost four years old), before washing again and using aquacoat. Might do the same again and wax it next week. Wasn't sure what I was...

    DSG service

I've got a OBDeleven Bluetooth thingy and Torque pro, so I would have to check if that can access the gearbox temp. I think getting it level might be my biggest issue  Looking at the videos on YouTube is there a pipe inside the bottom of the box above the drain plug, which also comes out...

    184 remap

I get what you're saying but from reading across three or four forums, listening/watching videos and reading comments, even from DTUK themselves on here DTUK developed it on their own Skoda 184 anyway. There's several threads about them including one on here where DTUK have been next to useless...

    184 remap

I put a dtuk box on mine and it made a significantly difference, gave it the aggression under acceleration I thought it should have as standard. Before I bought it I did a bit of research though, much of it on here and other VAG forums, and they can be hit and miss on the 184 engine with even...

    Reiger Splitter on

Rieger ones do look more natural. I've just fitted another TRC to mine and I'm happy with it but looking at this thread I'm maybe thinking I should have paid a bit more.

    DSG service

I've got a 6 speed dsg box in my 66 plate Cupra and it's coming up 4 years old. I've just been looking on you tube at the DSG servicing, not specifically on Leon's, but on other VAG models and it doesnt look difficult. Main issues seem to be the cost of the DSG oil in the first place and...

    Opinions on EZ car car?

I bought some wheel armour around six weeks ago to try. Only used it once and then washed my car twice since (traded in yesterday) the last being a week ago and it was still beading and very evident on the wheels, when it only claims to get 4-6 weeks protection per application. I've never used...

    Difference between 280 and 290

Haven't looked at the car, but the ticket in the front of the service book has CJXH.

    Space Saver Spare

If it's a problem then you can generally get the 16inch kit off eBay for something like £50. I got an unused one off a Scirocco for £48 delivered on my FR, then kept the compressor from mine and sold the out of date tyre sealant and the towing eye for about £23 minus postage. I'd have sold the...

I think I'd more or less got there, but cheers :D

    Difference between 280 and 290

Right after probably not making much sense before, mine doesn't have the box the one in the video has just before the rear wheel, everything else looks the same.

    Difference between 280 and 290

Well it's not like the photos in this thread: https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/cupra-280-exhaust-dissection.453247/ That pipe on mine is just straight from the subframe, then clamped (two clamps) then a long box and then box at the back.

    Difference between 280 and 290

How close to the engine is the cat? What I can see is the engine and turbo then there's something beneath that on the downpipe, looks like a flexi pipe of some kind? I can't clearly make it out. Underneath the car there's a straight pipe which runs from the subframe around the middle of the car...

    Difference between 280 and 290

Yeah it's standard (to my knowledge anyway). Just getting to know it after getting it yesterday morning so I'll have a listen and a play around with it over the weekend.

    Difference between 280 and 290

I've just got hold of a 66 plate Cupra. The dealer has sold it to me as a 280, the badge at the rear of the car says 290 which on it's own means nothing (IIRC with VW's previously dealers sometimes misbadged the mk4 GTD varients incorrectly). The log book says 280 also, though I have known them...

    2.0 184 coolant change.

Cheers for the replies guys. Seems its overdue for a brake fluid change then. What I may do is do the brake fluid change and seeing as it's due for cam belt etc next year get the water pump done at the same time and get the coolant changed then.
