  1. Easy/Quick/Cheap fix for doors not locking?

Good to hear it passed, yes the 1.9 TDIs are crazily cheap to run. Really not looking forward to when I'll have to scrap mine. Had it longer than I've know the wife lol
  2. Passenger side crash sensor location.

You're welcome - under the seat would also be my guess. But it's worth checking before pulling seats out. Yes door seals along with locks are a very common problem with these cars. Had a small swimming pool in my Leon after replacing a door lock.
  3. Passenger side crash sensor location.

I'm guessing you have a MK2, if so they're the same as the MK1 Leon & MK4 Golf. Not sure where it would be. But if you did a Google search on the MK4 Golf that should tell you where it is.
  4. Easy/Quick/Cheap fix for doors not locking?

I now have a spare driver's lock, it wouldn't unlock a couple of months after replacing the front passenger lock. While doing research on how to force the door open. Someone asked 'you've tried the key in door haven't you?' Well I did & the door opened. Great I thought at least I don't have...
  5. 1.8 20vt or 1.9TDI?

You're welcome, given the amount of kms a petrol would be a better choice. On turbo cars tuning is normally referred to as stage 1, 2, 3 & 4. Stage 1 is a simple remap. The 1.8t is a strong engine and a well serviced example won't have many problems with it. The further stages need parts...
  6. 1.8 20vt or 1.9TDI?

Depends on a number of things, the availability of the cars in your area & if you're planning on tuning it - having a local garage than knows the engine type very well. Sadly we never got the V6 in the UK. That would've been an interesting car, I believe they were 4 wheel drive. Either would...
  7. Easy/Quick/Cheap fix for doors not locking?

Replaced the front passenger door lock at the start of lockdown. A fairly easy job if you do them before they fail completely and dead lock. Cost about £20 for the module & around 2 hours of my time. I still had some butyl tape from the last time I did the door seals. It's do-able if you DIY...
  8. Undertray/engine/Gearbox guad

Lost? They should just own up & say they broke it, was thrown in the rubbish or fitted to another car. You can get them on eBay but unsure of the quality but if they're paying get an official one. Either at a dealer or somewhere like TPS. Fairly sure they're the same was the MK4 golf ones...
  9. Water on door sills.

I've been battling with door seals on my Leon for 13 years. Yes silicone normally lasted until a frost then leaks. Swtiched to Butyl tape & that has lasted years. But had a leak even with Butyl tape recently. I'd taken the door apart to replace the lock. Even took it apart again to put more...
  10. Console error light

Normally comes on when you switch the traction control off. If it's on all the time there's likely a fault. Check for an error code, most scanners should read it. But VCDS is likely to give more information & tell you what it is if something has failed.
  11. what have you done to your car today ?

Hopefully fixed the door leak for the last time
  12. Which battery? LCR 225 2004 plate

Not sure what the recommended minimum spec is for the 1.8. If you put the car details into Euro car parts it'll give a list of suitable ones. Putting a higher spec one on won't do any harm - well apart from your bank balance. Battery kept going flat in our petrol family people carrier. Put a...
  13. Seat Leon 1M 1.6 16v purchase

If the Ibizia or Cordoba are around the same age as a Leon there's not going to much difference. I've had my Leon for 14 years, some years it's cost me under £100 for an oil change. Other years it's cost over £500 in repair bills. You have to be realistic with the running costs of a car...
  14. Seat Leon 1M 1.6 16v purchase

I seem to remember there was a problem with some of the smaller petrol engines splitting gearbox cases. Other than that as listed above lots of small problems that can be fixed yourself if you're able to. There's plenty of parts avaible and online guides since the Leon is a Golf MK4...
  15. 2005 1.9tdi clutch replacement

The gearbox has to come off to replace the slave cylinder unlike the 5 speed. If you're going that far it'll be sensible to replace the clutch and possibly the flywheel if you have a DMF. Since there's already a new master cylinder then it may the slave. But given the work involved it's worth...
  16. FR won’t start after sitting for 3 weeks

You're welcome Bruce, it's clearly not very happy if it's not responding to a scanner. Get a decent power supply to it, ideally a fresh battery or fully charge the one on there. If you're going to recharge the existing one, disconnect it from the car. That'll prevent extra current being...
  17. FR won’t start after sitting for 3 weeks

My fuse box on top of the battery looked fine but it was melted under the largest alternator fuse. Does sound more electrical if your dash is behaving strange. Have you tried scanning it with VCDS. If it's been sat a while water may have gotten into the ECU wiring in the scuttle panel. That...
  18. 2005 1.9tdi clutch replacement

A sticky pedal is often the slave or master cylinders. Are either leaking fluid? Don't think you'd have to replace the clutch unless it's slipping. But if you have a 6 speed the slave cylinder is inside the bell housing so the box has to come off. There should be plenty of guides around if...
  19. FR won’t start after sitting for 3 weeks

May well be the battery or the alternator or both. Had problems with my battery since May because the car isn't used for weeks at a time. If it cuts out after starting then the alternator may not be charging. Had that happen a few years ago. Worth checking the fuse box on top of the battery...
  20. Rear door not opening?!?

There's videos on YouTube showing how to free up a stuck lock since it's a common problem with mk4 golf based cars. A few show people drilling or using existing holes to force the 2nd deadlock section of the module open. Since it can get stuck. You'll sort of understand when you have a...
