LEON ST FR 184 TDI - Oil Change

Cheers chaps, did the service at the weekend and as you say, it was accessed from the underneath exactly as in the Jetta video. Not a bad job actually, I invested in some filter sockets so having the right size helped a lot, as did draining through the 13mm on the bottom. Cheers Simon

LEON ST FR 184 TDI - Oil Change

Hey guys, Looking to service the LEON this weekend and I'm presuming the oil filter is a cartridge type with the plastic housing, can't see it after a very quick look under the bonnet though? Anyone know the location, expected it to be at the front right of the engine accessed...

No job too big, no pup too small..... Oh hang on, think I'v been watching too much of my 5 year old daughter's TV. It was a fair size job Conal, but the vast majority of the time was lost in not knowing how to get parts off without damaging them. A lot of time was spent figuring...

Not sure if this will be any better, but I've uploaded the photos to Dropbox and they should be accessible here... https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hg0em7qa4cg3tgm/AAAgLG9YzX1SrLBuW-Uqh7zwa?dl=0&s=so Cheers Simon

The bar I saw was as you described it Stu, with the mechanism along the side of the swan neck. I was careful to not repower the car with things not attached so that might well be your issue. Cheers Simon

Hi Stu, The fitter I mentioned who did my coding, was actually fitting the dealer supply bar. No I only had a quick look at ti but I noticed two things. Firstly I assumed it was a Wesfalia produced bar as the mounting system look identical. Secondly the mechanism for releasing the bar...

    Leon st fr towbar fitting!!

Hi Conal, The cover I still have but never used, this was for two reasons... 1) It is black, not smooth and I thought would probably look pretty rubbish, it required a cut that left material on all 4 sides, an aperture if you will. 2) I went about the cut in a manner that was...

Right, final part!! So it appears that lady luck is with me today!! :D Get a message form the boss, "knock off early, you've earned it". Wow great me thinks, that is welcome as it has been a pain of a week!! I know, I'll go down to the SEAT dealer and pick up my touch up stick, after...

Hi Stu, So once the factory wiring is all fitted, the 4 position fuse holder becomes redundant. What I did was utilise this to get my permanent feed from the back of the fuse box. Had one of the feeds to the 4 position fuse holder been an ignition live also, this would have been...

With the kit I got came some instructions that were for multiple vehicles and caused quite a lot of confusion! If you go down the route of correctly pulling all the pins on the vehicle harness and inserting the wires as instructed, it actually makes some of the wiring in the box redundant...

Update time.... Sorry it's been a while, work has been mental..... Finished fitting all the wiring. Boxed up all the interior. Did some final tweaking on the external wiring mounting point to make it accessible without a further bumper cut. So, I had the battery off during the...

Hi Seatstu, I answer to your questions before I put the latest update on.... I went for the full install including the "fridge" feed, in honesty that part is very easy in comparison to the main wiring. I didn't go through to the engine bay, you don't need to. The wiring has...

No Bogwoppit, there was no pre-wiring on my vehicle, unfortunately! I'll put the latest update on later this morning, I bet you can't wait! :funk: Cheers Simon

Managed a bit more time on the wiring this evening after a damp couple of days and no time to get at it undisturbed... Rear wiring was dead easy, plug in, mount the control unit, mount the relay and hook the wires to the earth point. Didn't take too long to carefully route the 2 lots of...

So at this point it would be tempting to say "PAY SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT!" But, as with the mechanical parts, half the battle with stripping out the interior for the wiring access is that I've not done it before on this car. It took me 3 hours last night to get to the point where all the...

    Cruise Control function change...

Now I'll have to see, but I believe the period you hold down the clutch pedal for makes a difference. Over a certain amount, probably 2 seconds, it disables the CC. I'll let you know, but worth checking before you head into the dealer. :) Cheers Simon

No more progress I'm afraid, I need a good run at the electrics where the car can be disabled for a while, Tues/Wed is looking good. I did find another small issue, there is just not quite enough clearance to get the plug into the 13 pin outlet so some modification may be required or yet more...
