Upgrading speakers.. Advice needed!

I've been thinking of upgrading the speakers in my FR. It currently has components on all 4 doors. I've read the guides on doing it and about the adapters needed etc.

I've seen the adapter needed is 16.5cm, but the only component speakers I can find are 16 or 17cm. Will these still fit?

Also will the components for the new speakers be a staight swap with the existing ones or will I have to modify the component speaker location at all?

I've seen that people have fitted coax speakers, but I would much rather keep the components as I feel they would keep a better sound quality.

Any advice on decent component speakers that will fit easily is welcome! :)

Ta,
Andy

theres been a few posts about speaker upgrades - try the search!
the components would be the way to go for quality although the door cards i suspext would need to come out to fit the tweeter and to hide the crossovers. i've yet to change mine but suspect i will be doing so as they really as shite speakers as standard!

I have decent quality JBL's co-ax's in all doors. I also kept the standard tweeters in their original location wired into the new speakers, as this helps "lift" the sound out of the footwells. Tweeters are (contrary to belief), the item to which stereo systems are tuned around (I used to install Linn HiFi, bass & mid levels were fixed, but gain was adjustable on HF).

The head unit is a decent quality, it is the bass/mid standard speaker which is hery "middy" and has a destinct responce dip.

Fit decent quality 175mm co-ax, leave the existing tweets, run the system in & enjoy!
