gearing

Hi guys I'm thinking of buying a Mk4 Ibiza Cupra TDi but im curious as to what they are geared for? I know on the Fabia VRS, the later ones had a much closer gearbox, making high speed cruising noisey and un-economical (sp?) but i happen to know the earlier ones are much longer legged...

would the short change gear shiffter fit my 1.9 tdi? As i know they are designed for the 6 speed, but can this still be put in a five speed car like my seat leon mk1. please help im loosing sleep.;)

Just out of interest, am i right in thinking that the FR tdi is geared different to my sport. If so do the FR's not wheel spin as much in first?? cheers Ripper
