I'm going to do it in my RWD, straight 6 <£1000 banger....

Funny as my mate took his £600 MX5 banger, it didn't drop no oil or coolant.....

I think the point that he was making was that it's the fact that there was a mechanical failure, that could have dumped fluids - not that the value of the car affected that.

Yeah but then again, any car can have a mechanical failure, so really the whole thing was that the car only was £500.

If this was Dave's Ibiza and it had same failure would that guy have wrote the same thing?

tbh, It matters not to me what car failled - there's enough news out there on dedicated sites about people continuing their lap with a buggered car.

Just that IMO, a failure means pull over & stump the recovery fee rather than drive slowly to get off the track **potentially** adding risk & danger to others

granted, not a fluid drop - but PFS all the same

I totally agree, if you have a problem STOP, but in this case Dave had assessed the danger and went off further on, no one was hurt.

I know the severity of people going off, I stopped for a biker this year and the last.
If he had caused a problem then yes he should get abuse for not coming off straight away.
But luckily nothing happened :)

And for the record since I seem to fail to say, when I had this problem moments after the pace/safety car was behind me... Temps didn't hit the roof until I got off & even then it didn't drop anything!

Best thing is you made a comment without knowing everything! And I'm 99% sure if the same happened to you & you "access" the problem you would have done the same as me when you know you are 4 corners away from the exit with a safety car behind you!!

I do enough track days & mess about with cars to know if I was running a risk... So please don't insult my intelligence!

Spent the day tidying up the Golf to put it up for sale tomorrow, going to try parking it up with signs first! Since trying to sell it via forums isn't the best of ideas with this thread on the go lol.

I'll take the green one for £500

You will be able to get my track tyres for that :p

Think its journey adds caractor lol might help the sale ;)

I'm not going to lie about it, the stickers on the car & I only done 1100 miles since owing the car... They should be able to add that up ;)

I think it's a good test for the car, if it wasn't for someone being lazy when re-fitting the bolt I would have had no problems.

every car has problems

i went round the ring in a zuki, with an old F2 driver in the hot seat, flying past most cars!

mork stop being such a jumped up keyboard warrior. dave got there and back without dropping any fluids/nothing bar a few belts went wrong! what more do you want for 500 quid?

btw how comes you never come to any ibiza shows to represent Seats???

I had the Golf parked up on the by pass for sale, gumtree & them eBay... Then my mate's uncle bought it to break for his Mk3 Golf Cabby, his 8v engine is now old & tired so he's fitting a proper engine 16v :)

Sold it for what I paid, £400 & claimed the tax back which I had £91 refunded.

James is still trying to sell his pug, had a right odd local person ringing about it who never showed up & got messed about on eBay.

Looks like you guys had a great time. The Golf & the Pug don't look too shabby either. Would love to have a crack at something like this myself. I think I'll plan what you said, a £250 banger doing a UK track. I'm excited just thinking about it!
