09 Freetrack issues - Door lock, door mirrors, rattle, crap in dash

Recently got a Freetrack, which is generally very good (and was half the price of a similar spec Skoda Yeti!), although I have a couple of niggles with it.

The biggest issue is that the driver's door doesn't unlock on the remote - everything else unlocks, except the driver's door. If I unlock the car with the key only, then the alarm goes off..... so I have to unlock the car with the fob, THEN open the driver's door with the key.

Here's the driver's door fault codes, from VCDS

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Am I likely to be able to pull out the lock and sort the issue, or is it time for a new locking mech? Where's best to buy them from?

Interested to know how common the failure is on the heated door mirrors, too. Are there any common wiring faults to the heated mirrors, or do the glass elements fail? Both mirrors have failed, according to VCDS.

Next up, when flinging it about I can hear *things* moving around in the dashboard - presumably parking tickets which have got amongst the dashboard. How can I get this out from among the dashboard?!

Finally there is a fairly unpleasant rattle from under the passenger footwell at low revs, under load. Any suggestions for the likely cuplrit would be ace.

Thanks for your assistance!

Door locks very common across the Altea (and many other VAG) range. Replace locking module is generally best solution - straightforward if you are happy at removing door cards and assorted wires and cables. Search on door lock will bear fruit.......

Heated mirrors not common - if both have gone then suspect switch or wiring in that area.

I changed the glass on both my mirrors and was back up and running,

I did buy after market mirrors which work but they are not as good as the originals,
the element on the after market glass is only a square / rectangular piece in the middle, where the originals have an element that covers the whole glass area

easy to fit, pop off glass, remove two push on wire terminals, then reverse to fit, 5 min job.
You may need more time again if you are getting after market glass as some come with the fitting plate and some do not. Worth getting it with plate already on as getting the old plates off can be a bit of a bitch.

Cheers for the heads-up on the locks - looks like about £100 for a replacement module.

Does it have to be coded in on VCDS?

Sounds like the mirrors are replacement glass from SEAT to get them working properly - don't much want to be looking in 'patches' on them.

I mucked the paint out on Sunday - it was full of unpleasantness - black rubbish on the roof and then lots of leaves and mulch behind the firewall panel in the engine bay - got it out before it blocked the plenum drains!

The reg is KV58 XBF. Why do you ask, Rog?

KS09 was mine, I sold it a year ago,I wondered if you'd bought it because it could well have had issues similar to the ones you've had - it had had a complete replacement drivers side mirror (first one got taken out by a pheasant) and would have had a replacement remote key fob (after my girlfriend threw the original in the bin).
They are great (underrated) cars - I miss mine (but not the fuel bills).
