Ive heard of issues with this and apparently a hybrid route is the way to go, personally i wouldnt go past stage 2 as i fear the engine isnt going to stand the test of time, to many issues.

Was thinking same the problems with the 1.4 tsi engine and then putting a bigger turbo on is just asking for trouble !
Would be nice to have a go in one running at 280 bhp haha. Bet it would be unbelievably quick !

I have a loba 270 and a loba 270 modified with a Billet 2.0tfsi upgrade wheel, about 2mm larger than loba wheel and much deeper veins, the turbo housing needed machining. On this upgraded loba I had the oil seals upgraded to stop oil seeping past.

I'm not slagging loba off, but you will struggle to get 270 from one. Your looking at 265 max. It's because loba calculated the 270bhp from running 1.7 bar max. You won't be able to hold 1.7 bar with this engine however good your tuner is. The exhaust ports in the block are simply too restrictive aswell as the turbo exhaust manifold.

Also you cant run it with a decat exhaust, there's less back pressure with the loba anyway, then with a decat theres even less back pressure, more than the seal can handle so oil gets pushed passed into the exhaust leading to smoke. My friend is running a decat with the loba and gets the same smoke problem at idle.

Its not a bad turbo, but you need to be aware of its capabilities. A hybridization of your oem turbo by turbo dynamics will be around 700pounds to match the spec of the loba. So considering the loba is 1700, and considering the oem turbo is 1100, it works out about the same..........unless you want to take your turbo off and send it in to get hybridized by turbo dynamics but you would then have to wait around 2weeks to get it back.

My standard loba will be up for sale soon as my modified loba is going on soon. it's done less than 1000miles as the car has hardly been driven over the last few months, spent most of its time at tSr.

I can imagine it would be really quick but im unsure of how it will get it all down and how reliable it would actually be.

I have upgraded my internals, pistons rods etc so it should handle it well. A few other custom bits and I would say with confidence that I have solved all the issues with this engine bar the restrictive head.

How much has it cost you to have pistons ? What internals you had done ?
If u don't mind me asking

Pistons rods and valve springs. Paid for a full engine rebuild which was 1500. Pistons were one off arias ones which can handle 200bhp each.
Rods are ones modified from a 1.8t, wossner ones. They also do phistone for this engine too.

this is what it can do just with stage 2 software. I expect another 35bhp with ecu tuning, with the upgraded hybrid, it will be more like an extra 45 bhp

that impreza sti was around 350bhp, and I took a second to activate the launch control because I was trying to get a good time rather than racing him

launch control and a reconfigured esp mode allows tyre squeal/slight wheelspin when accelerating in the first few gears to avoid traction problems so it will give a 0-60 less than 5s using Some decent road legal semi slicks help get maximum traction before the electronics step in.

autograph cars. Its due to go back next week to get its final ecu and modified dsg map done, the two maps work together more than people realise

Ohhh soooo close lol, so autograph cars have done the mapping where did you get your engine rebuild from and have you got a link for the pistons and rods as you have said they're not standard just so I can dream about getting this for mine lol
