1.4TSI engine tapping noise

Is this normal? Sounds like a tapping noise coming from the engine. Is this normal on the 1.4tsi mk3?

Sounds *kind of* similar to mine, which is also a 1.4 TSi. Mine whines a bit as well. That said, I've not really looked at it with the bonnet open and engine running so it's difficult to say for sure, but mine does 'tick' a bit.

I think you will find that's normal with the VAG 1.4 TSI Engine I have a golf and its the same and also others on the Golf Forum.

It sounds fairly normal, certainly not what an engine with noisy tappets sounds like.

Yep mine sounds like that too - tappety sounding along with a ticking from (I guess) the fuel pump, which goes quiet on overrun. Seems to be normal!
