be tight i would think

205-40-17 used to catch the rear liners on mine on a 7j rim with weight in and nowhere near that low

depends on the offset of course

dropped from 205/40/17 down to 195/45/16 and now on 195/50/16 for a little more comfort

17's I found a litte harsher

using 225/45/17 i dont reckon you'll get em in past the rear sill edge to be honest - damn close with mine as it is

back in a minute - gonna measure :):)

my 195/50/16 have about 20mm clearance to end of the standard sill (not inc sideskirts)

a 225/45/17 as above has 24.7mm more on the radius than mine and with the extra width on top gonna be realllly close before you even think of ride height + speedbumps etc

i have 215/40/17's on mine but with 205/40/17 tyres, lowered about 60mm and it rubs a bit on full lock and when i have 3 people in the back. appart from that its fine. spose yours are an extra 10mm wide! plus i dont know the offset of my wheels.

Lads just thinking about going the 17 inch route on my Cupra. Sounds from this post as it wouldn't be worth it? Should I just stick with the current 16's. Have a set of Coilovers for it to go on...

Currently it sits at standard height on standard suspension!

well mine sits like this on 215/40/17 (with 205/40/17 tyres) lowered about 60mm. it rubs on the back when i go over big bumps but only when i have 3 people in the back. and it ever so slightly rbs the chassis when its on full lock. only noticed when i took the wheels off though. nothing noticeable:)
