What side does the 'in' pipe attach to?
The baffled side or non baffled side?

That is all :)

Cheers Rich

I fitted the catch tank at the weekend and all went well. But something has sprung to mind.
The puc.

I cleaned mine out as it was full of gunk and refitted it.
What does it do because its just dawned on me that there were "workings" inside. Is it a 1 way valve? Should it hold pressure?
What happens if it doesn't work?
It was an original part so maybe i should replace it.

I believe it filters out the gunk from the PCV system, but thats a good point as it must be chock full of sh1t by now!?

I reccomend a catch tank (whilst your spending lol) if you havnt got one already. All of my pipework from the crank breather was virtually blocked solid.
Easy job but more £££

Was doing a little work on the car thismorning.
Thought id check inside the catch tank.

Was damn near half full (well between 1/3 & 1/2) of water!

2 weeks and just shy of 300 miles. Does that sound right?

No funk on the filler cap when i looked when there used to be a little pre catch tank.

So i guess its working correctly and "touch wood" dont believe it has head gasget issues.

Yes mate in this weather it will accumulate fast. Mine was half full a few weeks ago and that was over about 300 miles

Yeah haha! I was concerned too because I got like cream cheese on my filler and dipstick, to be clear my oil is perfectly clean and oil like. I only do a few miles on days when I use it 3 miles at max. Get a lot of condensation build up from it

Not an issue with a vent to atmosphere ....the water sits on top and if it gets too full is just dumped out and not into the engine :)

Im going to keep an eye on mine with the view of getting a larger can.
I do leave he house between 4 and 5 am every day and its always damp or misty.
Now the pipework is in, going bigger wont be a problem.
Will see how it goes in the warmer weather.

On a positive note.
Its taken a lot of moisture out of the crank case and continue to do so.

Everyone seems to be torn between VTA and back into the TIP, I don’t know what to do

I prefer sealed.
2 reasons.
First being, in standard form its sealed.
Also, i had a mk1 Escort with a catch tank that could breath.
Fumes got into the cabin and used to give me a headache + the smell ?.
Also (on the leon) would be worried about possibly flammable fumes in the engine bay with a hot turbo/exhaust.

Will deffo be looking into a larger can at some point though.

Mine doesn't vent anywhere near the engine bay (made sure of that ) - I have a 750ml unit (never gets more than 150 mil in it) - my old 300mil used to fill up (dont know why as nothing has changed other than vta).
Mine vents back behind the front wheel with a duck bill on the end - no smell's - no risk of explosion (err okay maybe)
