Haven't been on for a we while.

Last Tuesday (27th Feb.), totally out of the blue, my Dad died. He came home from lunch as normal, was laughing and joking and then suddenly collapsed as a result of a huge stroke. He died an hour later. We're just devastated at the moment.

On Thursday I was due to pick the FR up and I did in fact as I had sold my car the previous week and we needed the extra wheels for ferrying relatives around over the weekend as we managed to get the funeral on the Saturday.

So far I love the car. Looks amazing in the red. Feels fab to drive, not as harsh a ride as I thought it would be. The car certainly turns heads which is nice. I love the cruise control which I had never experienced before. All in all, I'm very pleased with the car. Hopefully will get time to play with it more in the near future. Can't quite get used to the dimensions of it having driven Ibizas for the last nine and a half years. Also seem totally different to the Leons we have had too since 2000.

My passion for cars came from my Dad and I so wished he could have seen this car as he would have loved it. Hope you're looking down from above Dad.

Hoping to give the car its first wash tomorrow.

Really sorry to hear that, I guess in a way its good it happened in that way rather than him suffering for a longer period of time with an on going illness.

Good luck with the FR.

Very sorry for you mate. You just brought sad memories flooding back for me who experienced a similar thing Aug 05. It gets easier as time goes by and you'll find yourself sayin' things your Dad said, he'll live on in you. Sad Times - enjoy the car, hope it brings the smile back on your face soon!

Thoughts are with you all. My Father in law survived for 3.5 years after a massive stroke - couldn't talk, paralysed all down right side so needed everything doing ... count your blessings and remember that bottling up emotions isn't a good way to deal with grief. . . real men cry THEN admit it!

Sorry to hear your news. My Dad suddenly died aged 49, so I can sympathise with what you're going through. It's going to be a tough time for you, and you'll always miss him, but it does get better. It'll be 5 years in April since my Dad died, and while I still miss him, I also think that he would want us all to get on with enjoying life.

Things like this really make you realise that you've got to enjoy every day you've got, and not spend your life worrying, because life really is too short.
You've at least now got the positive thing of having your new car (which sounds great by the way!). Hope that you enjoy it, and my sincere condolences to you and your family at this difficult time.

Thank you everyone for such nice wee messages.

So much of what you have all said is true and I certainly value what you have all said.

Spent this afternoon giving the car a good wash at my folks and kind of imagined my Dad sitting admiring it from the conservatory. Hope he didn't mind me borrowing his washing kit.

Took a while to get used to all the new lines on the car. Didn't help that the family dog was trying to "help" in the washing phase - she loves water!

Water doesn't half seem to get stuck in the doors though and pours out of the hole in the door, particularly the drivers door. Will need to keep an eye on it I think.

Also found that although I love my 18s, they are going to be such a pig to clean given the funny rough coating on the wheel bit. Will aim to get some wheel protector on them tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone, your messages have meant a lot.

Best wishes to you all.
