Hi all,
so had this altea for just over a year now, great car.
But, its always had a hollow 'knock' from the NSF suspension over uneven surfaces.

Just passed its MOT with no advisories, and I mentioned this knock to the tester who could find nothing wrong.
But its been there since Ive owned it.

Not ball joint, not drop link. They were fine on the shaker plate. So I'm at a bit of a loss. Was rather hoping some of you clever folk may be able to shed some light?
One thing I have noticed, applying the footbrake makes no difference, but apply power (for example up a hill) and it stops immediately.
TIA
Russ

Hi Russ,
Worn bearings of the coupling rod were quite often identified as the cause of knocking noises from the front axle.
However, a bit surprised, why not noticeable on the shaker plate.

Top mount of the strut. Identical problem on ours. Drove me crackers for ages. Had it back and forth to the garage (who I trust) who couldn’t find anything until he suggested to try and replace it. Solved it immediately.
