Android Auto - No Sound From Spotify

Apologies, if there is an answer that i have missed, but i have a formentor and when i connect cable android auto it works fine and spotify appears to play, but i cannot get any sound from the speakers, when i try and adjust the steering wheel sound it moves only a fraction? Any suggestions why i am getting nothing from the speakers? I have tried turning phone volume controls up as well as in the car.

If your volume works without the cable, maybe the cable is dodgy. Had dodgy cables in the past hence my comments.
