I am building a 1m race car. I am replacing the fuel tank with a race spec one.
Only thing is I unsure of what size to go for.

So was wondering does any one race or track cars. And what spec the car is and how much fuel do you use over a set period of time.

I see around 9.8 MPG (I generally seem to be anal about this and take photos of this type of stuff) when out on track, so if you go on that basis you can say for Brands at 1.2 miles long, a gallon would last me just over 8 laps. Snetterton and other tracks are over 2.5 miles long per lap.

So you can see how many laps you want to do and this would decide your tank size. Bear in mind you need to drive to / from the track and can take a Jerry Can or two (either 5 litres or 20 litres) as spare fuel. Normal MPG is high 20's low 30's. (289 BHP, well on the day it was last tested at least :) ).

I am looking at a 60l tank. Then need to make an outer box etc for it.
Was basicly looking in to most club events are 15mins races. Then enduro start from half hour and upwards so was really seeing what is a good size to start from.
Going to build an outer box out of ally and cut in it where the back seat base would be. Make a frame work to lower it down for centre of gravity.
Now to go d all the bits and bobs for the fuel system
