if you want to buy them, buy them. after all your the one folking out for them and they are going on your car, as long as you like them thats all that should matter.

i don't particularly like them though

I've seen some similar on a blue/maybe black (it was dark lol) Ibiza the other night looked a bit odd to be honest. they went up the inside edge of the headlight. then I saw some on an old scooby, sums it up really.

I think though that you could spend £300 on your car in a much better way.... HIDs for a start! What Ibiza have you got?
Converting the standard headlights to HIDs isn't legal, and even though its cheap, its not legal, so I'm not going to do that.

Retrofitting the HIDs headlight assembly from whatever model has them, would be, and if I could do that for £300 I'd consider it a better mod than the "Dayline" units.

130 TDI Sport.

Actually it wouldn't! Does your Ibiza have headlight washers and the sensors on the rear axel for the auto leveling?

So why the exceptionally high legal ethics? So many people have done it and as far as im aware i have never heard of any trouble form the police or MOT testing this doesn't make it wright or wrong granted but almost sets a level of acceptability. According to the EU their are no regs surrounding retrofitting making it a grey area.

Irrespective of the headlight washers (which I don't have) the refelector in the standard lights isn't specc'ed/certified with HIDs, none are.

So why the exceptionally high legal ethics?
Legal and illegal is pretty black and white. Being at 0.1% over the DD limit is still illegal. Driving with lights which are illegal, potentially causing death(s) is wreckless endagerment.
How many people on here have fitted washers with their (aftermarket) HID systems?

Lets look at why the requirement to have the washers exists. Its to prevent a distorted beam pattern from affecting other road users, the reason they don't want this to happen, it distracts people, "blinds" people and causes accidents.

Lets look at the reason the self levelling. Its to prevent people being dazzled because the wavelength of HIDs is far more likely to "blind" somebody if the HID driver has forgotten to adjust his lights when carrying more load.

Lets look at the reason there is a specially designed reflector assembly. Its to prevent the beam pattern from affecting other road users.

If you're happy having aftermarket HIDs and not covering off those 3 things, I think you deserve to be banned and locked up. Is that exceptionally high legal ethics? I just think its following the law/rules which have been set out to prevent people being killed. Then again, if you want to be a murderer I guess thats up to you, may the law get you good and proper.

Its pretty clear in the UK.

Oh dear fight!!!
Not at all.

My mate has xenons as standard on his golf but the washer jets have never worked he's had the car about 4 years does this make him illegal then?
Unless VW are chucking out cars with incorrect lenses/reflectors or without auto levelling then of course he's legal. Unless he's changed the colour output so they don't look yellow or white.

The MOT test doesn't include headlight washers in the test, so clearly he's OK come MOT time too.

If you do see it, check if its got the correct E mark on the lens. If it hasn't, and they are definately HIDs, then its illegal.

I'd like to be in the owners shoes if he bought it new from Citroen like that.

I'm going to get a pic very soon as I'm curious to know myself now, I have walked my dog passed this car loads of times and they deffo look like standard reflector lenses with an HID bulb in them. It has a chrome shroud over the bulb and XENON embossed into the plastic of the headlight unit.
