So I've just seen on APR's Instagram post that they now remap MY19 290's with a output figure of between 311-330HPish due to restrictions in the exhaust system (GPF) but DTUK are claiming to still be able to make 360PS.

What's everyone's thoughts on that?

A tuning box will never be better than a remap, but they do work, for me I have no choice but to run a tuning box, one for warrenty reasons and second because nobody has been able to hack the ecu on the b9 audi s4 yet so it's not possible to remap, but when I turn my tuning box off the difference is night and day

where do DTUK Show that, reason I ask is just in case its the original 290 rather than the MY19

Isn't the R ST WLTP too, surely that has the same restrictions and that tunes to 350.
The WLTP 300 ST (including R) has a different exhaust manifold. If you look underneath it doesn’t have a resonator on the cat back system (290 does) and it has 2 cats running in parallel.

Not 100% sure what the WLTP 290 has but it’s definitely different cat wise possible 2 cats in series? Just look on the res delete thread.

So there is hard evidence of it being capable. I fancy going down the tuning box route eventually but just wanted to know if it was worth it if all you’re getting from a remap could be 10bhp haha

Bottom line you pays your money you take your chance.

The ABT Module that was on offer with the Cupra R ST - Effectively a tuning box only produced 350 so this seems to be reliable figure for the GPF Cars, still surprised that APR could not get to that figure without starting to add on all the stage 2 hardware.
