You'd need an EGR delete kit to bypass it fully mate, take about 30 - 60 minutes to install and strips the cooler off, EGR and blanks the port coming off the exhaust manifold. Problem with the ARL is you'll get a constant emissions light until you map it out.

Other alternative is to just get some liquid metal on it, or that araldite steel and just coat the leak and hope it plugs up until you can sort the delete or replacement

My golf gt tdi 150 was an ARL and I had nothing but problems with the EGR system, once I removed it and had it re-mapped it was golden! Until I accidentally blew it up :p

If you do the delete properly you should've removed the cooler as well, it's dead weight.

Just unbolt it from the exhaust manifold and put th blanking plate in place, you using a straight through pipe or have you just got the egr still in place but mapped always open?

As Lee says, use the EGR delete kit and put the blanking plate on the opening from the exhaust manifold, then you'll need one of these:

EGR Cooler Delete Pipe

This will completely removed the EGR cooler and bypass it from both the exhaust system and coolant system. HTH :)
