Atmos Dump Valve?????

Was sat at a set of traffic lights last night when a Blue Ibiza Cupra pulled up next to me. Never seen it before ever. Heard him revving it up, so we set off and I had him off. Pulled up at next set, the same thing happened. He could not get past me. Anyway, this car for sure had a Atmospheric Dump Valve. I could clearly hear it. Also had an exhaust and induction kit, but he couldn't get past me. We pulled up and had a crack a bit down the road. Apparently, he'd only jus bought the car about 3 days before and therefore couldn't set off properly in it, which was his lame excuse for being beaten twice!! He was saying tho, that he had reciept's for a REVO re-map, full supersprint system and Jabbasport induction kit and other bits and bobs done to the engine.

Basically, the reason for this thread is two things:

1) How the hell has he got an Atmospheric D/V on it without problems??

2) Also, my car is totally standard apart from REVO, and his has a few things done and couldn't get past me for ****. It wasn't as if he was goining on me once he'd set off, I was constantly gaining distance on him. How is this?? And if this is the case, whats the point in adding £500 exhausts n stuff, when it dosent make the car any faster???

it probably is a forge recirc , mine makes a fairly loud release and its a recirc.
iether that or thats why he wasnt running away.

with a jabba filter (open not enclosed) you could probably hear the forge 007p (assuming that is what he has) dump through it. I know you can hear mine when quite loud when you remove the cover from the BMC

Yup, he probably has a re-circ DV with an open filter. When i have the cover off my RamAir the DV noise is quite loud.

A CAT-back exhaust and filter wont make much of a difference on their own.

Perhaps he was running too much timing/boost from using SPS.

I had a jabbasport induction kit on mine and with a forge 007p recirc it made a loud noise!

You can buy and run atmos DVs its just they will knacker the engine over time

Mines got a recirc forg 007P and a mate has got a bailey on his cupra, mine is much louder

i have a bailey recirc on my leon with a piper cross open filter and you can here it quite loud

But chatter is bad, your Diverter Valve mustn't be working.

Steve0, like has already been said, the cat back exhaust and filter won't make a massive improvement on his car, if it had a turbo back exhaust that could make some difference.

Yes, am sure he couldn't get past. Was very surprised tbh, was expecting him to come flying past when I heard the exhaust, etc.

What sort'a filter would you lot recommend then, to get the loudest d/v sound when coupled with a Forge Re-circ???

Any type of open filter will be loud with the Forge DV.
