Boot replacement help

Hi guys,

A while back I had a very nice person in a Nissan Navara decide to plough into the back of me and smash my boot in. And then decide to drive off rather quickly before i could get hes plates :(.

So basically iv just purchased a boot thats the same colour and everything so is just a direct swap should be delivered this week (good old ebay), but iv a couple of questions to ask and if you could help me it would really be appreciated.

Firstly by looking at mine, there are no plugs or connectors for the cables that go into the boot. Would you reccommend purchasing connectors, and just cutting and reconnecting the cables together, as it seems like pulling the existing cables through is going to be an absolute nightmare. Obviously this means the rear door lock, rear brake light, window wiper and two inner boot lights.

Secondly when it comes to replacing my boot lock, can the whole boot lock handle be simply replaced and then just the solenoid arm reconnected. meaning that my car key will work in the boot if the centrel locking was to fail.

Iv been searching on the forum and google for the last few days and cant fine any information on these questions, I wouldnt have asked unless I really needed to.

Thankyou for any help.

Sorry I can't help you wit this, as I've never done it.

But I don't suppose you've now got 2 bits of boot trim do you? I am picking up a Cupra on Saturday and it has no boot liner trim.

Can't help with the 1st question, but the 2nd I'm pretty sure the whole handle with lock comes out with just a few screws once you've got the trim off.

molehill mike pm me i have those bits im sure in my garage.

there is plugs to remove the bootlid wires inside the car under the roof lining i have removed mine as it has rust on it so swapped the boot for my spare but whoever took it off has probably just cut the wires and its quite a fiddly job if you've never done it before.

Thanks ndbrgr that's a great help should be a quick swap over then i hope.

And right gazcuprablk thanks for that info, I don't know tillIi see the boot tomoro what they have done, but I hope they found the plugs to unplug it. Must admit I tried to find them on mine and couldn't, ill just have to remove a bit more trim, but im thinking like your said that they will have probably just been cut. Iv got some plugs but it looks such a fiddly job and a royal pain in the arse!
