Imo every car in the Leon range (ok not the 1.6 n/a) is worth getting mapped but the cupra expecially as you see some hefty gains. I don't think there is anything wrong with the way the stock delivers the power but I don't know anyone who's gone to stage 1 and regretted it, most say it brings the car alive as it should be from factory

Yeah i can see it gets it up to around 300bhp dollops of torque. Does the engine have forged internals ?

I've been doing a bit more reading and it seems these engines drink a lot of oil. Is this something to be worried about I terms of engine issues as I never have to top up my golf 1.8t stage 1 but I do change oil every 6 months. It seems some do and some don't .

my Pre-fl drank loads of oil, my FL cupra isn't bad at all

it isnt a problem, just make sure that the car has been well looked after by previous owner

some people on here change oil every 3k. some change it every 10k.

Ive been changing mine every 3.5-4k miles and it probably uses a litre in that time, maybe a bit less, but i drive it reasonably hard. It all depends on which oil you use, how you drive etc. The 504/507 oil (5w30) is pretty thin stuff for a high performance car.
In context, i ran my Cosworth on 10w50 or 15w50. If i ran it on 5w30, it would use it faster than the petrol lol.

Im switching to Shell Helix Ultra Extra on the next oil change. It helped the oil consumption on my Type-R a little previously.

Yeah 5w30 is thin i was talking to my mate who had a cosworth and was saying the same thing. Is shell helix ultra any good. I was considering a type r fn2 was that heavy on oil

Mine doesn't seem to be using much oil at all, topped up 200ml so far in the last 3k (since I've owned the car). Mixed use out of it too. Not a Cupra I know, but essentially the same engine. I'll aim to change it every 7k or 6months. Old oil is naff oil!

The Helix ultra Extra 5w30 is used by a lot of audi dealers over the castrol Edge.
I don't see oil consumption as a problem to be honest. You could use thicker 502 spec 5w40 which would lessen the consumption and is fine on fixed service schedules. I think APR recommend Motul 5w40 for their tuned TFSI's.

This thread has been useful, as I am hopefully picking up a Cupra on the weekend.
Just thought i would mention I gave Seat UK customer services a call just checking up on the history and the lady i spoke to confirmed Seat had changed the policy on their cambelts now recommend they are checked 5yrs or 50k. Bit of a bugger as the one i am looking at is 44k, thats why i asked the dealer about it after reading 4yrs/40k on this thread.

Hope yours works out, fingers crossed for mine :)

Well just got back and i bought the car really like it . I see what people mean about the power delivery its very smooth but feels tame but quick. I think i can feel a remap coming on. If i was to get it mapped would the turbo pick up a bit sooner on the rev range? I think i use to my 1.8t k03s turbo as it use to pick up quite quick. I take it would be a good idea to upgrade the dv and spark plugs to a cooler range.

i brought my cupra start of this year ... standard form the power delivery is very smooth as you say ... i had a stage 1 remap, cat back and intake after a few months of ownership and its night and day! mine made 305 on the rollers which on the road is a totally different beast. No turbo lag and the power in every gear in immediately available... i will be stage 2 by next week lol
